After various abortive attempts to reform, the New York Cosmos are once more an actual club, and will play their first match in the second-tier NASL in 2013. (http://www.wsc.co.uk/wsc-daily/1149-july-2012/8866-new-york-cosmos-join-the-nasl) It's widely believed this is the stepping-stone to MLS status, once a permanent stadium and the licence fee cost have been finalised.

Man City and the Yankees team up for the 20th MLS franchise as New York City F.C. (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/22/sports/soccer/manchester-city-and-yankees-to-own-mls-franchise-in-new-york.html?_r=0) . What could possibly go wrong?
