Without jinxing it hopefully, a home win here with a few goals to enjoy surely.

I think a Waterford win is best for us in the meeting of second and third, the momentum is with the visiting side there so its possible. Our goal difference would then be like an extra point should Longford come here and win in a few weeks. And lets face it, they probably will.

Comfortable win in a possibility, 3 points is some way is a probability. Hopefully Waterford can do us a favour but if not we at least need to keep building our goal difference and maintaining our parity on points. Like you, CraftyToePoke, the upcoming Longford game is a worry, though, so a three point gain this weekend coming would be a load off.

Would like to see a draw between longford and waterford, waterford are on a great run and could well finish out the season stronger so would like to see them both drop a couple points.

On the basis on form, can only see a Waterford win in that game (and a stroll for Limerick). Need to get daylight between us and Longford.

A draw would be a great result in the other game. While it would be great to see daylight between ourselves and Longford, I wouldn't like to see Waterford closing up the gap too much either.

One nil win prob the worst performance of the season shocking stuff I couldn't see the goal coming team selection all wrong. THe positive of the whole night was the 3pts excellent header from Dom. NEw centre HALF was well dodgy looked very shakey its his first game so benefit of the doubt.
DErek o brien needs to released its becoming embarrassing at this stage Huge improvement needed next week

I was quite impressed with Kluciar actually, performed far better than most of the team, looked up for it, looked athletic - shaky wouldn't enter into my head. Hard to gauge in a game like thid though - in a p!ss poor team and against a p!ss poor team.

Three points. Terrible performance. Dour all night. Delighted :D

Mervue game eleven.

Dave Ryan
Shaun Kelly - Corie Tracey - Pat Purcell - Shane Tracy
Sean Brosnan - Joe Gamble - David O'Leary - James McGrath
Rory Gaffney - Denis Behan.

Tonights eleven

Dave Ryan
Pat Purcell - Robert Kluciar - Joe Gamble - Shane Tracey
James McGrath - Jeffrey Judge - Sean Brosnan - Stephen Bradley
Dominic Foley - Denis Behan

Firstly, I realise these formations aren't exactly correct as I have just copied them from extratime, but that seems a lot of changes to a side which had won its last outing comfortably 3-0. Although some were enforced, there were two at the back, two in the middle and one up top.

Was it too many? And how badly missed was O'Leary?

Anyway, we won. Last year they came here and drew and derailed our season, at least we are still on track this time round.

Bad performance but chalk it down. 3pts.

To be fair to Robert Kluciar hes a right back, and not a left sided central defender. Couldnt understand why Cowper wasnt tried out there instead tonight. Playing Gamble at right back when Kluciar was in the center and when Judge who had played at right back before. Foley/Behan does not work. Its one of Foley or Behan, and one of Gaffney or Sheehan////for your front two. As for O'Brien

it was a relief to get the 3pts,SD GALWAY showed plenty of courage throughout and will be disappointed not to have snatched a point,it was also hard to believe with the players we have we could perform so poorly, our second half performance abysmal.bar one stray pass i must say foley was a class apart, deserved his goal.

Things are being set-up nicely ahead of Longford on Friday week.

That will be a huge game. If we lose it I can see Waterford going on to win the league with the form they are in. If we win it it will most likely give up the hope for Longford and Waterford as far as winning the league goes. Only 10 games remaining though so no room for error.

Ah come on now - have you forgotten Cyprus putting 5 past Ireland a few short years ago?

Why and how? What would you have done differently?

Selection, substitutions, timing of substitutions, team back early after half time whatever he says makes them worse(like a big game) and after taking the lead players told to concede possession.

I said it with this guy in mind......

Out of interest what team would you have played for the game?

Timing of substitutions? He took Behan off after 5 mins of the 2nd half...how more positive could he have been like?
Are you actually criticising him for sending them back out a minute early?
You can't really use "whatever he says makes them worse" ...because none of us know what he says. He didn't really tell them to concede possession either, he was screaming at the midfielders to stay together and keep their shape. Kept telling Jeffrey to stop Garry running forward and kill the space.
Still, your entitled to your opinion on the way you see things...

Whatever about anything else, it looks like a series of bizarre positioning decisions, that contributed to a lacklustre performance against the worst team in the League of Ireland.

Gamble Bradley
Behan Gaffney

Starting that would have changed both teams attitudes from the start.

Replacing Bradley with (an unfit) O' Brien instead of McGann meant he had to make 2 more positional changes to the ones that were already made.

Our midfield was non existant all evening he should have pushed Gamble up there. Jeffrey not quite match fit and McGrath not quiet up to it yet.

Were Corie and Shaun Kelly injured?

Why not make a double substitution at half-time? - kingpin

After we got rid of it then he told our midfielders to keep their shape, he was getting Gary back to defend not hold onto the ball.

He underestimated Salthill again in my opinion and was lucky to get away with the 3 points but he did so onwards and upwards
