Is gamble injured

No he was suspended against Harps so lost his place for the Waterford game. COuld see him back in though with Bradley pushed onto the right.

Mervue are always a decent enough outfit but i'd be expecting maximum points and for it to be comfortable if we play the way we can. We just about beat them earlier in the year though and Longford were 3-0 down at one stage two weeks ago so god only knows what will happen.

Mervue 0-2 Limerick

I'd rather our next two games to Longford's, I cant see them taking six points from Wexford and Waterford, and we should be able to put away Mervue and SD. Could be the moment we edge ahead.

I think Limerick will steady things with a 0-2 win tomorrow.

After travelling to Waterford and seeing our second half performance I would not be confident of taking three points
from anyone.......

A win for us and a Draw there next week would be fantastic results for us.

Good win tonight and a very good performance.

Game was over pretty early on with the second goal and as soon as the third went in we may as well have headed home.

How's Gaffney doing for you? He was good tonight?

he's been doing really well since he was put up front with Behan. Played the second half of last season and the start of this season out on the wing which didn't really suit him or the team for that matter but since the switch he's a very effective player.

Agree with Donnrua. He was brutal on the wing and a lot were disappointed in him after the performances he put in for Mervue. I personally thought he just didn't want to be here. Since going up front though he has been excellent. Puts in a lot of work and is a real handful for defenses.

I can imagine it being very frustrating signing at a new club, wanting to do well etc. and then being played out of position. Good to get games but frustrating.

I always felt he was putting in more effort than the rest of the lads even when played on the wing but shifting him back up front really showed his potential.

Any news on Dave o leary injury??

Heard it was his knee. A few thought it was his ankle. Ligaments was mentioned but i'd say it has to be looked at before we know exactly the extent of it. Hopefully it 's nothing too serious.

I don't understand why people think Gaffney has been played "out of position" when he has been played on the wing. I have such horribly vivid memories of this day in Terryland (http://www.limerickfc.ie/fixtures/history/matchreports/2009/match1309.html).
Also, last night's match programme:

Tonight's visitors Limerick are hot on Longford's heels at the moment and everyone here will know all about their winger Rory Gaffney who carved out his league of Ireland career with Mervue scoring 15 goals before departing last July.
Rory has had a terrific season so far with Limerick, creating and scoring goals and greatly helping the blues' push for a return to the top flight. Thos who followed Galway United will also be familiar with Derek O'Brien, Shaun Kelly and Barry Ryan who all spent time on the books at Terryland Park.
In my opinion, Gaffney's problem since he came to Limerick is that he has been trying too hard to impress. Insteading of doing the simple things well, he has over-complicated the game and got too caught up in his own performance and making an impression.
The games he has played well in are those where he has relaxed and just played naturally, whether he has been on the wing or up top.
I think he was a bit tense last night, because he was playing against his old club, and tended to hold onto the ball too long. He often lost possession when trying to do too much (similar to last week v Waterford).
But overall, I think this season he is learning to cope with the pressure of expectation and has played some good games for us.

Dave O'Leary will miss a few weeks according to a few people last night. Gamble, Bradley and Judge all still around though, it's times like this that the benefits of having a squad can be seen.

@redron would you stop playing Gaffney up front and put him back out onto the wing or would you prefer to leave him where he is most effective???
