City's third choice keeper, Stuart Taylor (formerly of Aston Villa and Arsenal), is leaving after his contract expired, so Ian could be promoted to the senior squad

short profile of Lawlor, and two other players who have signed senior deals at City, here: http://themaineblues.com/2014/10/06/encouraging-signs-as-a-host-of-city-youngsters-pen-new-deals/

That's a ringing endorsement right there. I've my fingers crossed for this lad, especially given the age profile and questionable (?) quality of our current options.

One of those of "questionable quality" turned down an offer to sign for Man City to play regular football. I speak of Westwood of course whose decision to play Championship football must have helped push Lawlor up the pecking order.

p.s. I don't believe that a fit Westwood is of questionable quality.

Nor do I. I think Westwood is a quality keeper when fit, that's why I put in the question mark in brackets (my point probably wasn't clear there, questioned by some I meant)- there are obviously doubts over our current options among the management on the basis of the fact that they brought in Given.

He's almost 30, which isn't old for a keeper but I refer to the fact that he's had to drop back down to Championship level before he can come back up.

Makes a nice change from the "season ending surgery" that our prospects usually undergo.

How come some people say Ian like E-anne and some people say it like I-an? The guy from 90210 and Sharknado for example.

making his league debut today, on loan at Barnet. They're away to Yeovil Town and Lawlor has gone straight into the Barnet starting XI

DeLorean

Seems to be going well for him so far as Barnet lead 2-0 at half time. Yeovil have only had two shots on target according to the BBC stats so he obviously hasn't been overly busy. I didn't realise Yeovil had plummeted quite as far as they have, bottom of League Two. I was at Huish Park just over two years ago when they were playing in the Championship!

Maybe, there's a few all Premier League ties on the same day though: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015%E2%80%9316_FA_Cup#Fourth_Round_Proper
Could still be moved for TV

I find this app useful for TV coverage. The only problem is that is doesn't include Setanta.

Android (http://www.wheresthematch.com/live-football-on-tv-android-app/) iPhone (http://www.wheresthematch.com/iphone-app/)

That Bury match can only really be on Setanta at this stage as they seem to have the Saturday 3pm's but, like Tets says, it's pretty unlikely looking at the other options they have.

Setanta are showing Arsenal v Burnley at 3pm so it's not televised.

Third clean sheet in four appearances for Bury today so doing well, it seems. But given Joe Hart's world-class save today, perhaps he should be looking beyond Man City for his career.

Some very impressed folk over on the Bury forum. The thread opens with "Super confident, athletic, got presence and stature, shot stopper and even gives a reasonable interview" and nobody disagrees.

Numerous fans on the matchday forum for the Oldham game stating he was man of the match and generally laud him: http://www.gigglane.com/showthread.php/29104-Matchday-Oldham-v-Bury-23-01-16

Positive comments for the impact John O'Sullivan made coming off the bench also.

Another clean sheet for Lawlor - http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/35349431 - seems to be immediately comfortable with first team football, albeit at third tier level, which is encouraging

Article on Dutch site voetbalzone.nl mentions Ian Lawlor, and/or Angus Gunn as possible replacement for retiring NAC Breda goalie Jelle ten Rouwelaar.
NAC play in the Dutch Jupiler League. I think they are still playing for promotion to the Ere Divisie.

Another victory for Lawlor's Doncaster Rovers today - 10 points clear of Carlisle in third, 13 clear of Portsmouth in fourth, so barring a significant loss of form it looks like he will get promoted. If that happens, then the drop to League Two will start to look like a prudent career move.

still the Slovak keeper who got injured the weekend before they bought lawlor is only 23 and accirding to their forum s has been excellent so it will be a battle when he is fit in a few months you wood imagine. That keepers injury was the catalyst for lawlor been brought in as an emergency.

Promoted to L1 today with Doncaster - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39463625

Been in the side there since joining, could well be at the same level as former stablemate Jack Byrne next season.

A lot of our keepers tend to go downwards before coming back upwards since Shay. Westwood, Forde, Randolph, Henderson.. Even Danny Rogers has cut his teeth down the grades in Scotland. That move to a club like Doncaster could prove to be a masterstroke for Lawlor as he accumulates experience with an upwardly mobile side. He has the physique and ability to make it back up to the top. We've been talking about him so long that it's crazy to think he only turned 22 in October. Years ahead of him.
