Sheffield Wednesday sell training ground. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_wed/3583032.stm)

Owls chairman Dave Allen said: "This reduces our debts to around £15m, which means we can break even with a wage bill of £2m and gates of 20,000-plus."

------------

Interesting to compare with $hel$ on €2m budget.

pete - not to be too smart but for a comparison those of us whjo don't know what EL budgets are would need to know what level they are at

I would have guessed bohs entiree budget including wages, groupnd maintenance and all would have been close to 2M

ovviously wednesdays entire buget with groundsmen/equipment et al would be nearer 4M (taking wages as 50% of turnover)

excluding Managment etc was rumoured to about €30,000 which is lunatic when their average crowd is 1,800 and Shels may clear all their debts with their European profits but clubs cant depend on this every year.

Sheffield Wednesdays biggest problem like most other clubs is their inherited debt from paying inflated wages for the last 15 years and living beyond their means which the majority of Irish Clubs are still doing.

Postings from Bohs Fans in the Post above about Fans destroying the club you will see that this is actually the case.Shels running costs are on a par with Bohs and if you saw the Pathtic crowd that was at the cup game versus Derry you would worry for both clubs futures despite the money Shels will take in from their European run.

Most League one and two clubs in England have smaller wage bills than these two clubs despite getting crowds significantly better than them.
