"Terry is a racist"...too polite, if anything.
Though a pal of mine keeps telling me he was borderline eligible for us.

Lol, how come there are hardly any English fans there and loads of Irish apparently.
At one point (about 3.22) some English fans appear to start to sing God save the Queen ( you can just about make it out)
but it is drown out by the Irish singing theirs!! Bit embarrassing for the English I thought?
Where are all their fans?

Not if they've got any sense.
Though do know a good lad going out there, even been to a few Ireland away games...

Ah OK I think I have solved the mystery, I was struggling to understand it all and then rather 'spookilly'
the answer just came from the female bewsreader on Sky news "(England) who are based in Poland
despite having all their games in Ukraine".
However there is still the mystery as to why England are camped in Poland when the play in Ukraine?
So what is the reason? Security? OR Ukraine generally being carp?
Seems very unusual?

Not sure of the exact rationale behind setting up camp in Poland, but England's games will be staged in Kiev and Donetsk which would entail flying between the two venues anyway.

According to this it was chosn because they were the best facilities available
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3977895/England-teams-Euro-2012-camp-is-a-DUMP.html
I would hate to see the worst!!
It looks like the ruins of a concentration camp!!
The English FA must be nuts.
The FA has already given itself a logistical headache by basing the team in Poland for Euro 2012 — when all group games will take place in co-host nation Ukraine.
It means the team faces a round trip of almost 2,000 miles for the matches against France and Ukraine.
They might as well have stayed in England!!

It could have been helped if the Irish fans (or at least a small number of them) hadn't decided to act like idiots.

Funniest thing I have see in a while, arriving at your own camp to have their own supporters drown out by the Irish!!
You could not make it up!!
As mentioned in the other thread, it's all a bit pathetic and very hypocritical...

I really do not get this, it all seemed like a bit of harmless fun to me.
Just a bit of a laugh, I don't think anyone should be taking it too seriously.
Compare to some of the stuff which goes on at football matches etc this was nothing.
Especially not when you compare it to the antic of some England fan's in the past.
Now had the Irish fan's been pelting the English with bottles bricks and broken seats
as the English fans have does to the Irish in the past (1995) then that is what I would call pathetic.
Anyway all I see is a bit of harmless fun and banter, are people seriously criticising Ireland for singing their own
national anthem for example??? "Terry is a racist"? Noting wrong with being honest!!
I mean let's face it England have left behind their best defender because he is black!!
That's what I call disgraceful!!

I doubt the English players will give a crap about it (if they even heard it), but the people doing it are still morons.
As said on the other thread, if a few English fans had 'welcomed' the irish team by having a 'bit of a laugh' and some 'harmless fun', I'm sure plenty of people would be unhappy about it.

Watched the clip there is it not just a bit of banter??? Remember some lads there I am sure have scrapped up every penny to get there and with a few polish vodka's down your neck rational thinking goes out the window. Don't think it's as bad as being made out.

I actually think using our national anthem as a football chant is mindless. I take pride in the fact that we never do it.

teams arrive in differant venues all the time to a hot reception from opposing fans. a few irish lads turn up in their Ireland shirts, sing a few Irish songs and give a bit of harmless abuse to a player who has dished out far far worse over the years and people are getting on their high horse about it? really??

I'm only irked by singing the anthem as a football chant. I'm similarly irked when I hear anyone sing "Irish till I die". The fans can give Terry and England a bit of guff all they want.

Agree with that Stuttgart88 good post, only thing in their defense is that drink changes a lot of people and I'm sure a few woke up watched that with their toes curling!

I'm seeing both sides here, when I first heard it and saw it I thought it was a bit pathetic, why would you go to greet another Countries team bus? I wouldn't go to see England, and the English wouldn't go to see Ireland. I sometimes think (some)Irish people - mainly who watch the PL - have more of a concern for watching England or berating England than supporting Ireland. Its a pseudo-hate relationship, but helps fulfil their obsession.
I think it was harmless enough to be honest, a bit silly ,but what concerns me is something bigger happening over there. For someone who goes to a fair few away games, the bigger matches always attract a few fools, those few fools will be multiplied exponentially given the size of the travelling support this time. I really hope everyone behaves themselves and has a good time and are loved by the locals. BUt i have a fear if its anything like Paris away last time there could be trouble at some game.

everyone has to have their first tournament.
but i would agree that I would also have concerns about some of the fools that will be on this trip. lots of big gangs of lads getting absolutely buckled and annoying the locals. what i loved about wc 2002 was that it wasnt really attractive for p**s head event junkies to take in this trip. every Irish fan I met on that trip was just loving the tournament experience. Fast forward to recent trips I have been on and some of the behaviour while not violent has been a complete embarrassment

Worst thing I ever saw was in Germany when a few Irish fans started singing the rugby song -Ireland's call - shudder! (imagine a few english fans singing sweet chariot song)
And some here are complaining about fans singing the national anthem, Im just surprised they know the words.

Yeah, tell that to the lad in an Ireland shirt who gets his brains bashed in because some English supporter takes offense to this behaviour. What first class morons those Irish lads are! Indeed if UEFA have pledged to stamp out hooliganism, this is the first instance of it at the finals. I'd love to see all those Irish fans locked up for the duration of the finals, just for being such idiots.
Conversely I remember being in the company of a biggish group of English fans for a recent Irish international (on TV). They were all very complementary and wished us the best. Bridges were built that day, and then you have these morons.

This is hooliganism? My good god are you for real?
It's some lads having a bit of fun, no harm done at all. Some people are ridiculously sensitive. I'm sure they enjoyed it. It might not be my cup of tea but it's hardly anything worse than you'd see the world over around football. Some of our fans had great fun keeping european opponents awake in their hotel a few years ago. Hooligans I guess.
If some english guy kicks someone's head in, it'l be because he's a scumbag looking for violence, not because some lads same some harmless songs. There weren't even any 'party tunes' ffs.

I agree with ya Mark12345, If there was a bunch of English fans that turned up to our teams hotel and started chanting abuse and singing god save the queen, we'd be up in arms over it. This is the kinda thing that starts off riots. If the English fans that were at the hotel at the time took offence who know what could of happened. One thing is for sure is that they "the irish fans" probably run like girls. Them lads had one thing in mind when they went to "greet" the England team at their hotel and it was to abuse them. Idiots

It was just a bit of fun and you can bet you bottom dollar that if any incidents do occur they will be started by the English no the Irish, the English

If I was there I certainly would not have been joining in.
But in fairness, the songs weren't abusive (unless you're John Terry)
Nobody sang the Sinn Fein/IRA bit in 'Fields of Athenry' thank God, that would have been really embarrassing.
So if there were English fans singing at the Irish team bus I wouldn't care.
If they were singing anti-Hunger striker songs or 'No Surrender' etc. I would be annoyed.
Also, as an aside, when English fans act like this, people's back are up because they sense danger due to their hooligan past. When the Irish fans act like this it's because we're drunk and 'having the craic'. I don't agree with it and think there's a serious moronic (brain-dead) element in the Irish Soccer supporter crowd, but it's a storm in a tea-cup. Nobody will remember this in a week.
To summarise, the people in the video are gob****es, but fairly harmless ones nonetheless. Move on

This is hooliganism? My good god are you for real?
Yeah, I am for real. Are you?
Look at what happened and how it's going to be perceived.
A bunch of Irish showed up at the England team's arrival reception and started shouting: "you'll never beat the Irish" and also called John Terry a racist. First of all they went out of their way to show up at an event which had nothing to do with Ireland and therefore it will be perceived that these clown were looking to start trouble. And that is exactly what they were doing.
English people, anywhere they may be, can only feel slighted by that sort of behaviour - given that it was unprovoked - and who the hell can blame them? And that could very easily translate into a hiding for some innocent Irish person during the tournament if the Irish / English paths should cross. I mean it's simple logic.
As JByrne says. How would we feel if a group of English fans did the same?
If you can't see that logic my friend, well.........................

Are we definitely sure they actively looked for this, or were they just nearby (in a bar on that street).
I wouldnt give two flying cooks what they would sing, its part and parcel of football supporting. Dont know what they do in other sports like rugby or gah but in football its what we do;)

Could well have been the English, away he is a racist as is the English selection process which
