Didn't last all that long, did he. Funny, I would have thought the future looked brighter at Longford than at Kildare.

At Seans age he needs to be playing and at Kildare he is guaranteed an extension to his playing career. In addition Kildare still harbour ambitions to make the top flight, and he will score goals for them.
Sean made a major contribution to Longford Town, not just in the glory of the cup final, but in dogfights in the League when his goals were life savers which dragged the club into the upper half of the table. As a bonus he was a nice guy.
Best of luck where ever you go Sean! ;)

sorry I'll rephrase what I said. What the fcuk is going on when a true pro like Francis is let walk out the door of the flansiro and that dreadlocked I play when I feel like it idiot is left behind. Recent form and those 5 different short spells of form aside, what the **** is wrong here!

Baker, granted. Aside from that there is nobody at the club who could nick a goal outta nothing like Seanie Francis. There's plenty here who dissed the man. Stand up now and say you couldn't give a toddlers. I had sometime trying to convince lots of ye that Francis should start the cup final and all ye could come back with was some tap in theory. There's something we've lacked since Matthews stopped playing the guy.

He was only at the club a very short time but his contribution will last for ever in my mind! Thanks again Seanie, it's a very sad day.

Sean tends to score 95% of his goals from about 5 yards out. Nothing wrong with that of course, but he never got the service this season that he would have thrived on. No crosses from the wings,,no short cut-backs from the by-line that we all became so used to seeing from Shane Barrett last season!..
That type of play would not agree with Matthews..sure we might score or something. Thats why I'm sorry to see Seanie go..with the right tactics..he would score at least a dozen goals per season.
I think i've worked out what the problem is. I think Alan Matthews thinks he is taking a leaf out of Jack Charltons book by ATTEMPTING to play similar tactics as he did.Hes too afraid to go all out attck in case we're caught at the back. He goes for Jacks "foolproof" tactics.
We just keep playing direct long balls up to little eric and little dessie. What does he Matthews think is going to happen? Does he think that eric is gonna grab dessie by his short n curleys and throw him up in the air, just so he can get a flick on to a Sean Dillon long ball??
Theres one small difference between Alan Matthews and Jack Charlton..Jack knew how to play a direct game.He had Niall Quinn winning the ball in the air and then the midfielders would pick up the breaking ball and attack..I make it sound so simple..
Hey Jim Hanley..whenever you're holding them interviews for the Longford job, just gimme a shout.

Sean has an amazing ability to become a fans favourite wherever he plays. We still love him at Rovers and it's fitting that you guys recognise the contribution he made to your club too.
Seanie Francis he's a Hoop, he hates Bohs.

I am awfully sorry to see Seanie go! The man was brilliaNT In tthe previous season and a half with us. Without him there, I am convinced we would have wend down in Alan Matthews first season in charge of us. He made the difference in that season and last season.

He single handedly got us to the cup final with the goal against Galway and Pats! My favouritre goal of his was in belfield against the students when francis hit a class hlaf volley from a sean prunty cross if i can rem! That made the shortlist of the top ten goals of last season on tv3!

he loved the section o lads in particluar and my best memory of him is him singing " tell all the bohs you know seanie frasncis is better than crowe" in front of the huge crowd in the shoppi9ng centre and the section o lads joining in with him! noone else in the crowd had an idea what francis is about

i will certainly miss the great man myself and i will finish with section o own tribute to him!

TELL ALL THE BOHS YOU KNOW
SEANIE FRANCISS IS BETTER THAN CROWE
STEPHEN KENNYS A ****
VINNYS BETTER THAN HUNT
SEANIE FRANCISSS IS BETTER THAN CROWE

GOD BLESS YOU SEAN AND WE WILL MISS HIM!
