Anyone having any problems?

I upgraded my Galaxy S2 last night and since then I have had no mobile network connection.
Went to the Three store in Liffey Valley (useless).
Then the guy in Carphone suggested I head to their troubleshooting guy in their Henry St store even though I didn't buy the phone from them. So I guess I'll do that tomorrow (Sunday).
I always bought my phones in Carphone and I didn't get this one there and completely regret it.

I've tried the typical turn on, turn off. Removing Sim and SD.
Tried to do a hard reset like you could on the HTC Desire but it doesn't allow it.

Anyone got any other ideas?

Also I tried downloading Samsung Kies but there are compatibility issues with Vista so it doesn't work on my PC.

Was it an official upgrade or did you flash it yourself? If the former, was it a 3 upgrade or was the phone SIM-free when you bought it?

It was an official OTA upgrade.
Phone is on contract with 3.

What can't you do, make basic calls and texts, or share an internet connection?

I upgraded a sim-free one last week and haven't had any problems.

If it's an official 3 upgrade, it's totally their problem. Take it into a store and don't leave until they've fixed it, or given you a replacement until they fix it.

I went in today and they couldn't do anything but a staff member said to come back tomorrow and he will do it via his laptop. Mind you this after they wiped the phone.
I went into Carphone on Henry St and the techie there said that you shouldn't upgrade OTA and I should use Kies. Which quite frankly is a load of crap.

I'll head back into three tomorrow and make sure it's sorted then and there or get a replacement.

Carphone Warehouse can be very hit and miss. I went into the one in Midleton last week looking to port to 3 for the HTC One X and he told me he didn't have any. Not "I can have one for you in a couple days", not "we'll have them next week", but "there's a 3 shop up the road". I'm also pretty sure I knew more about both the contract and the handset than him. Just bad business. Mahon is better, but a bit offhand. However I've had great service any time I've gone to Blackpool.

That's somewhat true about Carphone but to be honest the GS2 is the first phone in over 10 years that i didnt huy from them and they have been superb to deal with whether it's Liffey Valley, Henry St, The Square or Dún Laoghaire.
But like with my dealings with UPC/NTL I reckon I've been lucky.

I think my issue with the phone is that i missed an upgrade.

I updated my SII a couple of weeks ago(offical upgrade) I have no problems with phone calls or anything. But my SKY GO doesn't work now(it's not supported on ICS) also I'm finding some apps are crashing quite frequently, its liike they were developed for gingerbread and not working properly on ICS.

Its just frustrating really as I'm not seeing any massive benefits from ICS or Gingerbread

Right. So it turns out that yer man and I could do feck all with Kies and that the phone had bricked.

Apparently I should not have upgraded OTA which I was not notified of at all by Three, and instead by Kies.
I was then told that I should bring the phone to Fonemenders GPO Arcade and get it repaired under warranty.
It wasn't open yday so I brought it in today and should be ready tomorrow.
Obviously a 3rd day without a phone wasn't possible so I bought the cheapest smartphone that Three had for €60.00. Not happy about that and considering what had happened you would think that I would have gotten a discount or something.

I will be composing a rather ratty letter to their customer service dept post haste.

Why the hell are they releasing ICS when there's seemingly no backwards compatibility? Insane.

I was happy with the phone on Gingerbread. I only upgraded to ICS cos the option was available.
RAGING!!!

just a general thing i have found with the S2 compared to the iphone, apps like skype and navigation work better on iphone.

As do most of the mail services also - that are not google specific that is.

I was never enamoured to the IPhone but after personal experience, i think ill be getting an Iphone next. Jobs was right, Android software is not integrated, which is what they actually pushed for and made it out to be.
