I normally read the Irish Independent online everyday, but have noticed that over the last 2 weeks they've had no LOI match previews on a Friday or match reports on a Saturday.
While I know their LOI coverage is pretty awful in general. I'm disappointed that they've now reduced their coverage to virtually nil.
I don't read the paper edition.Does anyone know if they still carry reports in these?
Dan McDonnell was in Richmond last night so presume the paper has something. Looked online myself but couldn't find anything

I wouldn't bother with the Indo. Extratime have good reports up after the match or the next morning.

Not really a fan of the parent site "The Journal", but The Score's LOI stuff has been very good so far this season.

Only LOI fans visit extratime. And even then some match reports are pretty amateurish. Bound to happen when they have young students learning their trade. No I don't mean to knock what is an essential LOI website (and I visit it a lot), but it can't compare to a national newspaper. Good luck to everyone involved in the site, and to be fair to them, some involved are very good.
Far more people visit independent.ie and if they're completely ignoring the LOI, then it needs to be questioned by the FAI.
I asked Dan McDonnell about it, and he said the newspaper people have nothing to do with it.

I don't understand how the independent would have to answer to, or even care, what the FAI would say on the matter.
Am I missing something here?
McDonnell says the paper people have nothing to do with it. I thought they sent their own reporters to games, although I'm sure I've seen the same reports on extratime.ie at some stage.

If I was the FAI I wouldn't give them access to the International team unless they covered the league.

The FAI probably wont grant them access to the International team if they do cover the league in fairness.

Thanks guys for the info on the paper version. From the looks of it, someone made a decision over the last 2 weeks to not include previews/updates in the Online edition.
I agree that there are other (better) sources for LOI content, but as someone said in the thread, the Indo is read by a lot of people and if we're trying to promote the LOI to a wider audience, we really need the paper with the #1 readership to be including at least basic coverage.
Think I may send an email enquiring about this. Doubt I'll get a response.

The less people asking questions about the league the better for the FAI. Their "running" of it is nothing short of a disgrace.

Not true, your just as likely to get drama off the field(double contracts/clubs going bust/not paying the taxman etc.) as you are on the pitch. That's quality planning by the FAI! Who amongst us doesn't love a good oul moan about when Sligo are going to the wall or how everything is biased in favour of Dub based teams?

I've sent an email to the editorial section of Independent.ie. Will be interesting to see if they get back to me.

Tell them their first division coverage is horrendous in the paper version too if they do get back to you. Thanks!

I'm still waiting for them to get back to me about their liaising with RTÉ to get Friday Sportsnight back on the radio...

Good piece on the 25th anniversary of Milltown's last game in Indo today.

Is this being discussed anywhere? I'd like to reminisce about that day.

They had reasonable reports on Friday's matches on Yesterday's paper. Also The Irish Times had full reports on all the Premier Division matches. No reports on FD except the results.

Examiner actually gave short, fairly decent First Division results to give them their due.

Still no reply yet. Least they gave me a ticket number, so I can use that for a follow-up.

17 days and 2 follow-up mails since my initial contact, and still no reply from the Independent Online edition. Joke of a paper when it comes to Customer Service oh and LOI coverage:D
