I see they 6TH HIGHEST RANKED team in Europe.

Spanish season starts real late on 29th August so 1st leg 2 1/2 weeks before their first league game.

Shels have goog chance of some result in 1st leg if at home but i seem to remember Deportivo have lethal home record in Europe...

If you have to face them competitively, then i guess a few weeks before their season statrts would be a perfect time. No reason that they can't keep the tie alive heading into the return leg at home.

could even nick an away goal, they've gotten four of them so far

I think if Shels play the way they did last night then they have every chance -they've nothing to lose by giving it a go.

It simple really, Shels have zero chance of getting anything out of either game. If they score a goal it would be as much as they could get. Deportivo will just be too good and win easily. But atleast theres the Uefa cup to fall back on, could get something there depending on the opposition.

Does anyone know how the seeding for the draw for the first round proper goes. Will Shels be seeded. If you look at the teams left in the qualifying round, there all poor. Steaua Bucarest & Dinamo Zagreb would possibly be the best in it.

Bad move i think to move game to Lansdowne. I'd be surprised if filled the 25k capacity which doesn't seem like they'd make that much more cash from or does it?

I still think Deportivo could underestimate shels in the Dublin game thinking they can turn them over by a few goals at home easily enough.

how much to rent the ground ? how many more neutrals will attend ?
remember when celtic lost coca cola cup in Scotland to raith rovers ? raith got drawn against Bayern Munich and played home match in bigger ground (Hibs), made a few quid ?
i know it's a business and clubs have to make ends meet, but shels should keep home advantage

I can't remember but think the FAI used to say needed something like 15-20k at FAI Cup final to justify bring to Lansdowne.

Maybe Depor will look for a large allocation, you'd never know.
Obviously the clubs have already been in contact as the legs have been switched.

Yeah, kinda like Cork having no zero chance against Nantes etc.

Moving home game to Lansdowne & starting with first leg at home has to have reduced chances of shels upset.

From seeing City in Nantes realised important for team to keep concentration up to prevent a rout & if can nick an away goal keeps tie alive. City could have been thumped 4 or 5 nil in Nantes but hung on & deserved to win at home but unlikely they'd have come so close to if moved home game to bigger stadium.

From http://www.deportivo-la-coruna.com/

On Thursday, coach Javier Irureta will publicize his list of 25 players who will form the squad of Deportivo playing the two matches against Shelbourne. However, if Deportivo qualify for the main tournament, this list can still be changed afterwards.

This will be the probable Deportivo squad:
GOALKEEPERS (3): Molina, Munúa, Dani Mallo
DEFENDERS (8): Capdevila, Romero, Naybet, César Martín, Pablo Amo, Jorge Andrade, Héctor, Manuel Pablo
MIDFIELDERS (11): Fran, Luque, Momo, Mauro Silva, Sergio, Duscher, Jaime, Valerón, Víctor Sánchez, Lionel Scaloni, Munitis
ATTACKERS (3): Pandiani, Tristán, Rubén

 Phenominal array of talent but Shelbourne may have a few rays of hope..

1: Tristan and Naybet suspended for the first leg.
2: Spanish league not started yet, Shels more than halfway through a very successful league campaign with 4 compeditive champions league games behind them.
3: No goals conseeded at home in europe this season
4: Depor will totally underestimate shelbourne.
5: Depor havnt being great on their travels in europe in recent times. Hammerings in Milan (4-1) and Monaco(8-3) come to mind. Obviously shels are no AC Milan but you get the point.
6: The physical side of the LOI will surly unsettle some of the deportivo players at least.

agree with whoever said losing Tolka is a huge blow. This would have being their biggest advantage IMO.

Shels have every chance of keeping the tie alive next week but it could be lambs to the slaughter in the Raizor on the 25th

I reckon Shels can get a result out of the first game. I dont know how they will get on when they go to Galicia though..
