Danny O'Sullivan was his name. His son Kevin was in my year at school. The auld fella used to pop in there for a pint or two before going on the night shift from Ricky depot. He no longer drinks, the pub site has been used for flats and you fellas can't enjoy a social before working. How times change.

Our social was often during work. :eek: Sadly those days did not overlap with the advent of the mobile phone and the pub is now a site for yuppie flats. Danny! That was he. He was a miserable mine host for an Irishman, though. To be honest I'm glad that alcohol (and drugs for that matter) have been separated from my professional life.

Getting back to the subject in hand, Conchita hates football although she loves footballers wives. :D I'm taking her to the Bulgaria game next week and she's not too excited about it.

theu used to have a room called "the tap room" in the brewery where the workers could drink their daily allowance of the black stuff during working hours with the managements blessing.
well human nature being what it was they had to close it as whole day long sessions started to happen :D

that was circa 25 years ago its now well closed.
they management did a spot check on the"tap room" one day and there were guys there from the ESB ,the gas company,c.i.e and wherever you care and basically a full blown hooley was in full swing at 11.30 in the day :D

Don't worry PP you shall get to Riff Raffs v. soon, Luton games shown on a reg. basis there, however the fact that the Porterhouse serve Quillmes (Argentina's top and most beautiful lager - hmmmmmm sweet, sweet lager) and its Villa Park neutrality makes it not a bad venue.
Have had to weigh up the moral principle my response to the actions of the staff in Porterhouse, making a stand regarding this against the fact that they serve really nice lager, no contest in the long term really.

Just a point about eL Football, is there a difference between clubs in how many female fans they have. I notice always the amount of women who go to Arsenal, Celtic and Stoke seems to far outweigh other grounds that I visited. Is it a simlar thing in Ireland?

We had a bit of a situation like that with our old social club at the sorting office that i work at. The social club served very very cheap beer :D and it used to open just as the early shift was finishing, the result most of the time being total mayhem with postie's crashing themselve's into parked van's and lorry's people on the late and night shift being to banjaxed to work plus every wineo in North London turning up staggering around the depo.
Come to think of it, I miss those day's. :(

Come to think of it, I miss those day's.In the interests of efficiency, I think most companies will get rid of these on premise shebeens. Most drinking dens of tube drivers were all off premise (the odd station pub closed down after Kings Cross '87 due to a smoking ban). But there was one on the top floor of Camden Town. Well you can imagine the mayhem there at times. One old Scottish woman guard who ran with me for a day fell out of it ten minutes after she should have picked up our train and it had to turn round at Tooting through lateness. She was totally jodido when I met her halfway through the train insisting that I joined her for a 'smoke'. :D Happy days!

It depends on the success of the teams really.
For many teenage girls, a Friday evening at your local testosterone filled football ground is a great place for some attention.

Just to continue on from this, Arsenal are selling the Ladies Shirt (http://shop.arsenal.com/arsenal/assets/product_images/large/l_10086.jpg) this season. Don't know if they've always done this. The shirt looks very similar to the mens but has a different neck and is more fitted. Obviously this is good for the Arsenal Ladies team but I also think they look better on the female fans. Saw a girl wearing one last night and have to say, I was well impressed. Often women look awful in football shirts.
It's not possible for a woman to wear a Liverpool shirt and not look like a cream cracker. Since Ireland also has a ladies team, I think it would be a good idea for them to do something similar.

Have to disagree with you here, I think that its a proven fact that women look fit in football tops. (with the following exception Ingerland, Rangers, Sperz, ManUre or Nazio :eek: )
Think that this is the first year that the club are selling ladies shirt and the club are doing things to increase the profile of the womens team, the womens team is always on the trophy parade and after the Leicester game last season the ladies team played a championship decider at Highbury with free entry for people - The West Upper was packed for this.

Think Ireland already has a ladies kit, same as the mens but a different collar. Still looks **** tho! I agree, women can look awful in footy shirts. (esp Celtic ones, makes em look larger!!)
