Just thinking back to the Galway game, did I hear right that £20,000 had been given the Munster Football Association by the club to cover St. Anne's and install floodlights?

Didn't hear the PA @ HT, Niamh. However, £20k was given to the MFA by the CCFCSC/City Lotto recently as a final payment for the installation of seats on the Derrynane & St Anne's sides. Doubt if £20k would cover the St Anne's Park end, anyway, never mind the floodlights...

Am nearly certain and we are undoubtedly talking about the same cheque as well.

don't know about any announcement, but AFAIK the cheque for £20,000 (raised by the Lotto) was the final insatlemnt of the £30,000 it cost to put seats in 18 months ago for the Lausanne match.

Bernie should be able to clarify the situation

Yes indeed, my learned colleague is correct.(even at 10 past one in the morning)

That £ 20,000 was the final instalment of the Lotto's obligation to the MFA to pay for the seating installed in the 'cross prior to the Lausanne game. £10,000 was paid last year, so the original £ 30,000 bill is finally paid off.

I am lead to believe that further developments at the 'cross , such as floodlighting, PA system and completing the St.Annes end will fall to the FAI/MFA. This frees the Lotto funds to concentrate on Youths/U-21's expenses.

I think this is fantastic!
The City Lotto and SC were able to raise £30,000 to pay for the seats. It's a credit to all the people involved. With £2,500,000 lotto jackpots and the like £30,000 may seem like a paltry sum but it takes great effort to raise and congratulations to those who did. Remember the efforts involved the next time you take a seat at the Cross.
The MFA have valuable tennants, that's for sure!
