View Full Version : 2012 attendances
30 Dundalk fans is about 1/10th of what they brought last year.
There were 37 of us in total :p
I was surprised it was that many they way McCaffery has destroyed the squad.

Dundalk used play Thursdays when they were in the first, and possibly for a season or two in the Premier
Not since our return to the Premier leauge in season 2009.

Looked like about 800 Bohs fans in the Riverside, presumably Shels have the ticket stubs and can give an accurate figure. Poor crowd overall for a traditional Dublin Derby. Monday night really is a poor night for fixtures ( as the Setanta has shown)
Have to disagree, Sligo brought about 900 at the start of the season and I would say the Bohs figure was about 600 max. Bear in mind that our attendance this season seems to have settled at 850-900 at home and the total attendence on Monday was under 1,500.
P.S. There is a quote of 550 went into the Riverside on the Shels forum.
Monday night is an awful night for getting fans out.......:(

try 143 , 85 season ticket holders that stayed at home dont count for cup games, LOI football is officially dead in the city of the tribes, This was FAI Cup, where was the magic. Join the campaign stand tomorrow on shop street from 10am to end this madness and stop the lockout of LOI Loyal supporters from the game.
two tweets and one coriboard sign was the extent of the promotion of this FAI Cup game in Terryland tonight,

The state of LoI soccer in Galway at present is a disaster. A local cup derby on a perfect evening in a lovely ground can't even get 150 people to turn up for it. How long will the re-branding of Salthill as a solution to the demise of Galway Utd be continued with if it clearly is not working. 2 or 3 years, maybe ten ? have the FAI a time-frame in mind as surely they did not expect this stunt to work straight away. Do other clubs in the league have an opinion on this ?
Rovers told the press the 'official' attendance was 1,250 (handy all their attendances are round numbers)
Friend was there and said about 800. In fairness though it's hard to judge a crowd spread out there

Why would they overstate the crowd when they have to give a share of the gate to limerick?

The Cup just hasn't got the same appeal anymore, horrible crowds all over last night.
I see on our forum that the attendance was 999 in Derry last night (I know, an apt number considering the scoreline). The reason for that poor of a crowd being, only about 50 Harps fans went in (more fools us eh?), none of us expected anything from the game with 7 players out.
On Derrys perspective, it's no longer even a contest between the 2 sides, they don't care and who could blame them.

As long as Limerick get their one third(?) of approx 18.000 Euro from a 1250 crowd , it doesnt really matter .

3rd match in seven days for many/most fans. Full price charged for cup ties (many less than attractive fixtures). Could somebody tell the FAI there is a recession on ?

The SD Galway project is a bit of a disaster. Does anyone know who came up with the idea to rebrand Salthill and move to Terryland Park ?

I think it was an idea straight from the FAI heads wasn't it? Try and grab the more casual Galway United fanbase? Didn't work anyway.

The Salthill Devon affiliated chairman of the league.
I counted 71 at HT so considering I could not see anyone in the toilets, close to the new stand or gone for chips that seems bang on.

Yup, thats the one. Not sure how long the FAI is going to let the current situation regards SD Galway continue, but it's gone beyond farce into being a bit sad. It wouldn't even be so bad if they were back at their old pitch, but it's a shocking waste of Terryland's capacity.

It's a really sad state of affairs. I don't think any of us hold any will ill towards any of the players of Mervue or Salthill, someone has to play for them... but those that helped create the situation... both in the FAI and at the head of the two clubs...
As bad as things are, I can see this having the long-term benefit of insulating Galway football from criminals and fools hijacking our club again. From what I hear there is a lot going on behind the scenes and GUST are as busy as ever. A lot of clubs and great local football people are on board and really want a proper community club playing out of Deacy Park. The idea held by some that everyone should just row in behind Mervue and/or Devon is nonsense. They are primarily junior clubs, which every other club in the county competes against.
Feck this ****e anyway, bring on the Euros!

I was in the main stand and there was certainly more then 50 rovers fans there.
Heard a few chants from the boys behind the goals alright. And a few from the Bohs boys also

I was sitting close enough to a mixed area of Sligo/ Bohs fans in the main stand, 50 a guesstimate.
I thought it was a good atmosphere and an entertaining match that Hancock did his best to spoil.
Sligo back room staff stayed for pints afterwards, a friendly bunch, happy to wish them success in the league campaign!

Bohs seem to have a decent support base from which to try and rebuild the club. Now if only some solution could be found to restructure the loan from Zurich Bank there could be a future in Dalymount for them.

Edit: just had a look, all their Twitter said was 'at least 3000 here' and 'over 200 from Cork'.
