The Galway Advertiser facebook page is reporting the death of Eamon Deacy, former Irish international who played for Aston Villa during their golden period in 1979-1984. Eamon also played for Galway United.

He would have been about 53 years old.

4 caps for Ireland which remarkably all came within a 5-week period (a friendly against Algeria followed by the South American tour in 1982).

RIP to Chick Deacy and condolences to his family.

He won a First Division with Villa back in 1980/81 season.

Villa only used 14 players that season which was a bit unusual even back then. More detail in East Terracer's link above.
