Every time we qualified for a tournament we lost crucial players primarily through injury but also suspension and Saipan. Leon Best looks out. Here's hoping it's the last but Dunne's shoulder injury in the last minute against Man City is very worrying.

WEll we most definitely won't be going to the Euros with a dickey Dunne.

If anything his injury will help our cause. A 2 month break now will bring him back nicely rested with only 6 weeks of the season left.

It's not like Villa have anything to play for anyway

Still worried about Dunne. One of our pivotal players. O'Shea a long time out as well but back in training. Hunt - will he make it although many would in any event prefer the Toothpaste man.

I will cringe watching them all in the last few games of the season.

heard oshea on a couple of shows yesterday and he seemed very positive about his fitness. said he had only missed 2.5 weeks and has been back training for 5 days now. the break might do him some good come june.

dunne worries me also though

Ditto. Nothing brings one's personal pecking order of player importance into contrast like end of season games before a tournament. I cringe every time they replay the Dunne injury. Like watching a tower building demolition. F**k knows how he didn't do worse damage than he did.

There's only two invaluable players that we simply couldn't do without, Richard Dunne and Shay Given.

If anyone else gets injured its not ideal but not the end of the world either.

The whole Euro 2012 thing is getting very real now. The boys are back in town!

Fitness doubts.

Kranjcar (http://www.irishtimes.com/sports/soccer/2012/0420/1224314992214.html) a doubt for the Euros.

In another IT article (http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/sport/2012/0420/1224314968785.html)

'THE SLOWER-than-expected return to fitness of Richard Dunne was the most pressing matter on the mind of Republic of Ireland assistant coach Marco Tardelli yesterday.'
'We (also) have a problem with Stephen Hunt, and Keith Fahey is out. Stephen Kelly is out.'

I thought at first 'out' meant out, but it just means out injured atm.

Chris Hughton was quoted somewhere today saying that Fahey is OK. Something along the lines of him carrying a niggle so they're using him sparingly but that if the Euros started tomorrow he'd be fine.

I'd be sad for Kelly and Fahey if they were to miss out. They both seem like well grounded guys proud to wear the green and who have had to work hard to get to where they are.

Kelly was talking last about his injury last night, he has a broken wrist. I think he will be back playing soon, as long as he doesn't fall on it he should be okay.

I'd add Keane to that list. Who is gonna score the goals if Keano gets injured? Doyle out of sorts, Walters knackered after playing a lot of games for Stoke and Long spending a lot of time on the bench....

Extra points for any of you savvy fans up on Croatia, Italy and Spain injuries... would love to hear it....
Way over my pay grade.

Actually that one guy from Italy who grew up a few towns over from me in New Jersey was playing real well and he is finito. Rossi.

Cassano looks like he'll be fit for Italy, on the other hand. Villa is still touch and go for Espana.

So will that player be John O'Shea to be replaced if it comes to that by McShane? Our weakest area of the pitch and it looks like the fickle finger MAY be pointing in that area.

Guaranteed it will be McShane on the plane while Coleman watches from home. Lets hope O'Shea's injurys isn't as bad as feared.

Given, O'Shea, Dunne, St.Ledger.....hmmmmmm. Might be worse that I first thought.

Two out of the 23 but none crucial (so far). Fingers crossed for the remaining time.
