Does he get a thread now that he's playing in a proper league?

Scored on his first start for Hibs today (against Cowdenbeath in the Cup) and seemed to be well involved in things generally going by the BBC report (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/16371630.stm).

Hibs only won 3-2, but it was Fenlon's first win since taking over. And they can still kind of mock their local rivals Hearts, who scraped by Auchinleck Talbot 1-0 at home.

From what I saw earlier after checking out the Hibs forum, he's already a club legend

The fans seem to be completely focused on how bad the club's back four and midfield are, so both Doyle and Fenlon should have a good amount of time / opportunity to settle.

V (http://www.hibeesbounce.com/forum/showthread.php?110848-Doyle)ery positive stuff. Another forum was quite positive about his prospects upon him signing, saying that Griffiths was too raw and not SPL quality. Doyle will get plenty more opportunities beside an experienced striker like Garry O'Connor. Hopefully he makes the most of it.

Well, this footballer has agreed to join up with old boss Paul Cook in League Two next season, even though Hibs had apparently offered a new contract.

Like practically everyone at Hibs, Doyle had a decent enough first half of the season before tailing off after Christmas. I'm not surprised by his stats, but was kind of surprised by how well he took some of his goals (his Hibs goals were better than the ones he would typically get in the LOI - think he missed a few 'easy' chances too though).

Might still have a part to play for Hibs in the cup.

A big step down in my opinion. I know there's more coverage nationally and locally in England for League Two football, in the shop window, FA cup/League cup etc...but League Two is a very poor standard at the minute.

Doyle has adapted well to League One. 8 goals in 7 games now (7 goals in 6 league games).

He has completed a hat-trick as high-flying Chesterfield lead Scunthorpe 3-1.

He held his nerve to score from the penalty spot after missing an earlier penalty.

Top of the goal charts by 2. He's well poised at 7 to exceed his L2 tally of 11 once he stays injury free.

Hat trick of Hat tricks earns Darndale’s English an Amateur International call up
Darndale FC’s James English has received a late call up to the Ireland Amateur side for the double header against England in Whitehall this coming Thursday and Saturday.

The former Kilbarrack Utd striker took a risky move dropping down to Premier C this season to play for his local club Darndale, but his explosive start to the season with 11 goals, including three hat tricks in a row has caught the attention of Gerry Smith as he finalises his squad for the upcoming UEFA Regions Cup. English’s start to this season has been superb as he scored back to back hat tricks against Brookfield Celtic as well as another against Finglas Celtic in recent games. The classy striker already has one cap to his name having made his Junior International debut against Northern Ireland in June 2013. Speaking to the JSP, English’s manager at Darndale Mark Field said “Its massive for the club. He is the first player ever to represent the Irish team through Darndale. I spoke with James earlier and he is delighted for himself and he is delighted for the club. Its a great achievement for himself and the club and we wish him all the best.”

I don't know it that is a fair statement, he had seasons in the lower leagues were he scored few goals, you
could also say something like he could not crack the drop down to league two.

I don't think the league you are in makes much difference, but obviously a top of league one team is
a different ball game to a bottom of the championships one.
I mean he had a baron season in league one at Carlisle 1 in 19 maybe he can't crack playing for a
team beginning with C?

He is however back to scoring ways. 4 in 8 game (well 11 games including cups)

Hat-tricks full of penalties are not so impressive.

The Madden goal (first) is pretty impressive in the build up, champions league stuff!!

Browne's goal at 0:19. Doyle's goals at 1:10, 1:30 and 2:00. Nice delicate finish to lift it over the keeper at 1:10. Nice finish on the stretch at 1:30. Calm as you like at 2:00.

LMAO at Chesterfield's defending for the second goal at 0:35.

Scored the winner for Chesterfield in the early game at home to Sheffield United. Jimmy Ryan opened the scoring in the first half. Now 5 goals clear in the scoring charts with 13 and Chesterfield are joint third in the league.

14th and 15th goals of the season today. He has scored 14 of Chesterfield's 21 league goals. He'll be the top scorer in L1, for a good while at least.

That is phenomenal given it's barely mid-October. He's surely destined for the Championship in the January sales.

Last season's top scorer in League One was Sam Baldock with 24 goals, Eoin Doyle has more than half that already.

Last season's top scorer in League One was Sam Baldock with 24 goals, Eoin Doyle has more than half that already.

Behind him is Andy Wilbraham on 8- exceeding half of Doyle's tally by one goal only.

Baldock went for £2million whilst being a year younger than Doyle. Doyle would warrant a lower fee because he's not played at Championship level (Baldock had 15 goals over two seasons to his name at the level). But I would imagine Doyle isn't on a massive wage or that a club like Chesterfield pays big money, so he's probably a financially sound investment for a Championship side.

Eoin scored a landmark 20th goal this afternoon, his first in over a month.

Ended up with two against Crawley- one either side of a Jay O'Shea goal.

Talk of a move has died down somewhat. This could see a move pushed through or else Chesterfield are adamant he's not moving till the summer at the earliest.

I'd say the chance of Championship football next season would be much more favourable than playing in the SPL for any footballer these days.

Just to put Eoin Doyle's form this season into perspective...

David Mooney had 13 league goals by this time last season.

Paddy Madden had 12 league goals by this time the season before that.

Doyle already has 20 league goals, has already equalled Madden's overall tally from the 2012/2013 season and has already exceeded Mooney's overall tally from the 2013/2014 season.

Does he have masochistic tendencies?

I don't think Scotland would be a bad move. Celtic get plenty of exposure on Sky and some of their players have signed for EPL/Championship teams. If he's the real deal, he'll make it.

I'd say the chance of Championship football next season would be much more favourable than playing in the SPL for any footballer these days.

Adam Rooney's 20 goals this season for Aberdeen are testament to the fact that it's a higher level, for sure. Celtic have their draw but the SPL is in transition (if the decline is over) and Doyle is the wrong side of, say, 25 for that.

24 in 32 game, all competitions, so 3 goals every 4 games.
