Low-key post-Christmas friendly in Ferrycarrig this afternoon against the Wexford GAA team which included former Youths players such as Ricky Fox, Ben Brosnan, Shane Sinnott, Eric Bradley, Kevin Rowe, and Lee Chin who is ex-Waterford. First outing for new manager Shane Keegan, who is impressively animated on the sideline, and which ended 3-1 for the GAA team.
Wexford Youths squad may give some indication as to who will be with us next year had thirteen on the programme as follows, although Karl Keogh at least was a no-show.
Sean Allen
Mark Phelan
Patsy Malone
Murt Kehoe
Karl Keogh
CJ Browne*
Jimmy Dermody
Danny Furlong
Shaun Corcoran*
Muzzi Mullen
Shane Clarke*
Josh Byrne*
Ian Foley*
Those marked with an asterisk are new to me.

Others not on the programme who were also part of the squad included Deano Broaders, David Millar, AJ Lehane, Richie Farrell and a new player Scally (?), who is also new to me. About 200 at the match.

If that Shane Clarke is the one I'm thinking of, he's an ex- Limerick Fc player and a very good striker. Currently playing local football in Limerick with the Boro and is banging in the goals with 29 goals in 13 league game. Always hoped he'd come back to limerick, a very very good player and still young enough I believe.

Thanks for info. The Shane Clarke playing today played wide left and looked quick and lively. Have no idea as to where he was before this.

Not the Limerick one then.

If the Josh Byrne on your list is a goalkeeper then he's more than likely our former U20s keeper who easily made the step up to the senior side only to have to give up due to exam pressures approaching the summer of last season. Went away for a while then I'm told, but is back on the scene now.
Great pick-up for anyone in the division. Superb young keeper with a great future ahead of him, commanding presence for a lad of his years. Fans here were hoping to see him back with us.

Hi Stann
I'm pretty sure Sean Allen played in goal for the Youths for the full 90 minutes in the friendly. However, there was a young guy wearing gloves in the dugout so that may have been Josh Byrne.
With Packie Holden apparently having stated on Facebook that he won't be with Wexford in the 2012 season, we could definitely do with a new keeper. I think it has been said on the BTID forum that Packie is expected to end up in the RSC. (Good luck to him if he does, he always gave 100% for us over the years.)

There was a single A4 page giving a list of the two panels and also mentioning a few sponsors.

The programme was a photocopied A4 page with text on two sides (no colour). If you send me your address by private message, I'd have no problem in sending a copy to you.
