View Full Version : 4-0 to the Cork City
It was a fairly comprehensive beating really. I wouldn't neccesarilly say that it was as good a performance as the scoreline suggests though. In truth Galway were just absolute rubbish.
It has to be said again that Deccie is past it. He 'played' right full today to no effect at all. Bobby Ryan and O Brien skinned him at every oppurtunity. Bennet and Grady are simply brilliant. I'm afraid we'll lose Bennet though. He is beginning to show some real class.
Even though Tartigan got two, he still had a miserable game. His first goal, while being a good finish, he had all the time in the world. the second one was a scramble. Still though that should see him start for the next 2 years. My opinion won't change until the guy is seen to be making an effort on the field.
Anyway 3 points, I think that puts us second, and a win against the dirty scum on friday will see us good.

City were kinda poor today in between good passages of play. The shed was very quite. Galway fans made more noise at times. We will have to be a bit better than that next week if we want to beat Shams.

the really big game is coming up next, away to shamrock rovers. a win there and we can have serious title ambitions. i still have my doubts that city will stay right up there until the end of the season, but i think we'll get another european spot.
Games will have to be raised all round. from the team to the suppoerters.
spot on all those comments. hartigan was dire as was devine and daly. mulligan's miss was very poor. grady, cahill and bennett were excellant again.
if city were not so conservative we could have won 8-o as galway were dire though their wingers looked pretty tasty.
i doubt if we will beat rovers next week i still think top 3 would be ok
....why o why move Carey to midfield! Please Gunther if you're reading this leave him at right back. Colin O'Brien & Greg O'Halloran were boht ruined by moving them to midfield. Carey is one if not the best fullbacks in the country but that doesn't make him a midfielder!
If Hartigan scored 2 goals & Mulligan none how could Hartigan have had a bad game? If he looks lazy on the pitch but scores the goals who cares? If Rozaldo was trotting around the pitch i'm sure ye would want him dropped for not chasing lost causes around the pitch?
no offence to galway i could have scored two goals myself. if hartigan worked a bit harder and got stuck in a bit more he might offer city more attacking options and how knows he might score even more goals. our attack is pretty toothless

The big worry for me after yesterday was Mick Devines performance. He was no where near most of those crosses and corners. Lucky that Galway didn't create any chances?
Also Ollie was outstanding yesterday considering the disgracefull tackling meted out to him particularly in the first half when i thought he'd have to go off injured.
Fair play to him that he continued for the full match and was still the most dangerous player we had.

Devine 4 bad day at the office
Daly 5 never got forward against Galway!!!
Horgan 8 made several good runs
Coughlan 7 steady
O' Rourke 7 some good tackles
Carey 6 got no attacking support from Deccie
Bennet 7 busy but too many wild passes
O' Grady 7 ditto
Cahill 9 electric, man of the match again
Hartigan 6 good goal but dreadful first half
Mulligan 6 good work rate, bad miss
If gunther couldnt see how bad deccie was yesterday and plays him right back, then billy woods is going to flah us on friday night. And its not just defending. It was very hard to judge Carey playing right midfield when he had no support from deccie. look at the other side, and how well ollie and hoggie link up.
Its time to drop Deccie, play Carey right back, and buckley on the right of midfield, or maybe bring Colin 1 back from the land of the large bottle.

It was up the field a bit in the first half, but did anyone see Mulligan on the ground and a Galway player turn with the ball and paste it off Jimmy's head while getting up. it seemed to land him straight back on the ground anyway. It look really bad to me anyway. And Ollie got the legs and everything else taken from him at one stage as well.

Not going to get into another argument about him, but his work rate is terrible, and my gran would have scored those goals given the time he had. As for Mull. Well he had an absolute blinder. He was all work and running and really did deserve a goal for his troubles.
And if Woods is up against Daly on Friday we are screwed. And devine will really have to pull his socks up as well. he looked very out of shape yesterday.
Five of the starting line up under 21, a 4 - 0 home win(biggest of the season), gone joint second. What the hell are yea all moaning about?

There was no atmosphere. The Shed sang once methinks and I have to live with a Galway fan who was actually singing at the match and was one of those who ironically cheered when the Shed got a miserable City chant going briefly. I don't think I've ever seen City supporters that quiet...some noise against Rovers on Friday will be needed.

Niamh,
Wasn't at the match. Was there much of a crowd at the game?
Also, Why was the Shed so quiet? Has Moses actually been banned for his pitch invasion and abuse?
No he hasn't. I dunno why the athmosphere was so quiet- it was a pretty terrible match in fairness. I had too much of a sore head to use the bodhrán much, so that accounts for my silence- but even when i did, there wasn't much willingness to join in.
p.s. we did get more than one chant going- there just weren't many singing!

The crowd was small but not as small as it was for the Shels game. I suppose if we want to make excuses we can use the fact that Nemo were playing in the Munster Final and that there was so much live football on Sky. Fickle City fans don't really need an excuse. The only real noise from the City supporters seemed to be coming from the Corner Boys who didn't appear to have their much hyped flag/banner on display.
Apart from all the ball on Sky, the fact that no-one has any particular grudge against Galway would have had to do with it. The fact that the idiots in the S*it couldnt sind Dirty dublin bastar**, or shove your needles up your bum didn't help either.
Twil be a different story on the 16th though I should hope.

There was no fanzine with all the songs/chants on the back of the cover, Twas a great idea. Is the fanzine still going, i am trying to do one or two things for it, but it is kinda hard, i think i write best when i am really ticked off about something, that and a few beers in me, just an extra bit of fuel to keep the fire burning :D :D ........ seriously though is it still going or what.

even if ye have it ready for the start of December, ye should hold off selling it until the Rovers cup game. Ye would sell bucketloads at that match.
