From Dundalk FC's Facebook:
Also on Bob McKenna's scoring record:
Surly he can't play for the Under 18's and Under 19's... I appreciated that he may have been born in 1994 which makes him eligible for the Under 18 and your obviously aloud play for an older age team (hence the 19's) But these two teams are under different rules... Under 18's play DDSL (Super) and U19's play under the FAI....
Now forgive my ignorance, but am I not correct in saying that you cannot play in two diferent organisations... (DDSL & FAI)
As the U19 Elite league is in its first year, maybe they have a new rule which states that you can... But if not, Dundalk could be in a lot of bother here.... I know Kurt Murphy is also a player who plays for both the 18's and 19's.....

The FAI have confirmed that Salthill Devon have been removed from the Airtricity Under 19 Enda McGuill Cup competition for playing a suspended player in their recent penalty shootout win over city rivals Mervue Utd in the second round. Mervue Utd have now been re-instated into the competition and will play current Elite Division league leaders Cork City in the quarter final on Sunday March 4th in Bishopstown at 2 p.m.

Would a neutral venue not be better here? Maybe Longford or Athlone would be fairer?

It probably should have been played at a neutral venue but the decision as to who got home advantage was made after a good old fashioned coin toss.Dundalk U-19 manager gives his thoughts here:http://www.dundalkfc.com/u19-cup-final-confirmed-for-oriel-park
“I got the phone call today (Thursday) to tell us that we won the toss; it’s great that we won something involved with it........
Asked how much of an advantage having the game at Oriel Park will be, Connolly was quick to quash the notion that the artificial surface will help his side.
“I don’t buy the one about the pitch,” he said. “A lot of the young people today who are playing soccer are well used to Astroturf pitches.
“I don’t buy that, that Astroturf is an advantage to anybody, and obviously Cork City don’t believe that either because they haven’t complained one bit about it.
“I think the advantage, if any, is that if we can manage to get a good crowd out and get the people behind us, it will help the players, plus the fact that you don’t have to drive nearly four hours down the road to play the match.
“But the thing about the Astroturf pitch, I don’t accept that anymore because people are well used to playing on them. They hold no surprises to a lot of people.”

Dundalk take on Cork City in the Enda McGuill U19 Memorial Cup Final at Oriel Park next Wednesday night, 2 May, kick-off 7pm.
The young Lilywhites will be keen to secure a trophy named in honour of a former Club Chairman and Secretary.
Many of the players who have featured in Dundalk’s first team recently – Ben McLaughlin, Cian Byrne, Bob McKenna, Peter Thomas and Chris Reilly – will be on show, in what promises to be an intriguing match as Martin Connolly’s side take on the Elite Division champions.
Admission is €5 for Adults and €2 for 12-18-year-olds, while U12s go free.
The club are producing a programme for the game, and are encouraging all fans to come along and support our stars of tomorrow!
