1. The birth of my second and third kids (Twin Boys).
2. Ireland qualify for Euro 2012
3. Heroes of my youth, Stone Roses reform for one last throw of the dice.

Not going to do this yet as am still hopeful that Jedward will be beaten to death before the end of the year.

Can't really put them into order, and as soon as I thought of this it struck me that I haven't had a huge amount of stand out moments. Still, a decent year. No bad news, which is good news.

Got my diploma in animal behaviour.
Had my best winning streak on the tennis court to date. (4 in a row. 5 wins from last 7)
Read some fantastic books that have helped to solidify some important views.
Watching the sunrise in Ireland after threatening to do it for years (had already done it elsewhere).
Recording mock interviews with my sister as we used to do as kids.
Seeing one of my students graduate to a higher coaching class.

Rovers winning in Belgrade.
Colm Tresson playing the last two games of the season and scoring in Galway.
Seeing my best mate leave the country (which doesn't sound like a high point, but he wanted to leave) and land a job in the Czech Rep.
Seeing Lleyton Hewitt compete (though not in person) at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and in the Davis Cup despite debilitating injuries.

Lifting the Champions League trophy in the Nou Camp
Changing jobs
Moving house
Playing for the Ireland fans team
Appearing (briefly) on Sky Sports News
Getting so addicted to going to the gym in the first half of the year, my friends nicknamed me "gun show" then subsequently losing most of them

Probably more I'm not thinking of at the moment

The demise of a few dictators.

A few down, a few more to go...

I think my highlight will occur on 23:59:59 on December 31st. The pox of a year will be over and the fun of 2012 will begin.

Then 00:00:00 hits and you realize thats what you thought the year before and that the next year will be just as **** (or worse if those Mayan pundits were right)...oh well life goes on.

The world is on the brink of a global financial crisis. Political instability is rife across the middle east and Asia, and there has been a major upswing in the volume and intensity of natural disasters... On the plus side, Robin Williams seems to have given up appearing in feature films...

High point of the year certainly was the birth of my daughter - our first. Not sure how I ever filled my time before that.

Other things seem a little insignificant after, but I must admit I enjoyed getting my golf handicap down from 18 to 14 in the first half of the year.

Thrilled with Cork City's progress over the last 12 months as well - although I must admit it was a bit of a low-point to miss the last game up in Tolka.

just in time for this year, i would like to nominate the following thread from the Bohs MB as my highlight of 2011. From about halfway down the second page when Bohs_1 outs himself. (be careful about how you register on footie forums!!)

Priceless. Please indulge yourselves...

Stu, I'm not sure which is funnier, how he gets his jollies or how that outing came about. I'd consider going to Tallaght alot more if I could laugh at his misfortune in person! Excellent detective/creeping work by Bohs fans!
