Cork City has been the only club with a forum description ("The Rebel Army") for several months now, I thought ye'd be up in arms about that. Do none of the other clubs have nicknames? Nicknames for themselves, that is... :)

The real reds would be what most people use as a nickname for Shelbourne, but it's rarely used since everyone just uses Shels.

Kildare are the Thoroughbreds. Sligo are the Bit O' Red. Monaghan are the Magic Mons (don't know if that's a nickname per se though...)

Terms like Drogs, Mons and Lims were invented by the Sun a few years ago. Persoanlly I hate them but the paper does/did give great coverage to the eircom League.

Shannonsiders has been used occasionally for Limerick and the Blues a bit more "We're here the Blues are here what the hell do we care..." used to b esung at away game sin the 70's/early 80's but not so much anymore.

You got the usual imaginative ones like rovers, Bohs, Pats and Shels - "Bit O' Red" is definitely the best although Sligo fans hate the term "rovers" being used for a certain Dublin club and claim that one too.

"Da Town" is probably still a Longford one too.

Hmm, your only one of a handful of people i have ever heard calling us the Seasiders. We go by The Seagulls, hence one of our songs................
SEAGULLLLLLLLLLS, SEAGULLLLLLLLLLS, SEAGULLLLLLLLLLS, SEAGULLLLLLLLLLS !

Dont think Seeeeeeasiders has quite the same effect :D

Can never get my head around Donegal men slagging off our clothes/fashion.
Its actually the reverse, I get a good chuckle at the stuff these guys wear when i pay regular visits to their capital 'Letterkenny'.....!!! Light years behind.

Fair enough about the greyhounds, there was quite alot of them walked in Derry in the past, as for your DHSS claims, Farm jobs must be scarce in Donegal these days when your good self has moved to Corcaigh. Not to mention all the annoying rednecks who work in Derry. ;)

Thought they dropped the Super part after getting rid of Dolan.

We were always just The Saints. Dolan added the Super-, but most fans never really used it apart from Paddy Eccles. Dolan tried changing it to the Dublin Saints around the time of the merger with Francis but that didn't catch on either. Now we're gone back to just being The Saints.

"Magic Mons" is actually incorporated into our club crest. Personally I think it's a rubbish nickname, but there you go.
