British Sea Power - Valhalla Dancehall

Was listening to the soundtrack they did for the 2009 DVD release of 'Man of Aran' recently and thought it was great. Must check out some more.

Haven't heard Man Of Aran myself, but heard good things. Do check it out - personally I wasn't huge into 'Do You Like Rock Music', but new album has a lot of strong tunes. Nothing spectacular, but very nice all the same.

Had a listen to a few tracks; some nice stuff. Will get a better listen later. By the sounds of things, 'Man of Aran' is more of an instrumental effort. These three are probably my favourite tracks off it:

The last one is actually called 'No Man is an Archipelago'. 'Man of Aran' is a different track.

Cannabis Corpse - "Beneath Grow Lights Thou Shalt Rise"
**** The Facts - "Die Miserable"
Condemned - "Realms Of The Ungodly"

and to fit in I also liked
Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - "Noel Gallager's High Flying Birds"

Forgot to add "Velociraptor" by Kasabian.

Not popular with the Hipsters, but "Xylo Myloto" by Coldplay is a great Pop Album. Sometimes great, unashamed, lighters aloft moments are what's required.

Not strictly following the purpose of the thread, but I thought I'd post Tycho (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tycho_(musician))'s 50-26 of his top 50 songs of 2011: http://blog.iso50.com/26352/top-50-songs-of-2011-50-26/

The following are well worth checking out, in my opinion:

Washed Out - 'Eyes Be Closed'
Soft Metals - 'Psychic Driving'
Bibio - 'Mind Bokeh'
Nacho Patrol - 'Stratus Chant'
Tiger & Woods - 'Love in Cambodgia'
Braille - 'Riverbed'
Gatto Fritto - 'Hex'
Dolphins into the Future - 'On the High Seas'
Kolombo - 'Waiting For'
Poolside - 'Harvest Moon'

If advance reviews are to be believed, Common's new album The Dreamer/The Believer could be a late bolter for this list

Late addition for me is Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks - Mirror Traffic, been out for a few months I think though. Lovely stuff it is, definitely at the top end of an up-and-down recent trajectory.

The Horrors - Skying
Wild Beasts - Smother
Bon Iver - Bon Iver (last track spoilt it for me a bit though)
Radiohead - The King of Limbs
Foo Fighters - Wasting Light
PJ Harvey - Let England Shake

Mentions to James Blake, Noel Gallagher, Coldplay (never I thought I'd actually like a Rihanna cameo).

When foot.ie had a brainwrong my post here got deleted and thanks to Pauro I can add Wasting Light in. It was so early in the year I forgot about it.
Stormer of a return to form from Dave and co.

Anyway... in no particular order here are my favourite 3 albums...

The Horrors- Skying I thought Primary colours would be hard to top but they really showed themselves to be one of the best and most talented bands around at the moment. Cracking live as well.

Future Islands- On The Water This band can do no wrong in my eyes and they then went ahead and pulled out of the bag a wondrous piece of music. Roll on their gig of next year.

Hooray for Earth- True Love This one came out of left field for me with a link but instantly fell in love with it. I see great things for these guys.
