Result from today: Wexford 3, DLR Waves 0. Comfortable win for Wexford with DLR not really up to the pace of this division as yet. Great to see that two of last year's squad - Charlotte McCormack and Ciara O'Brien, have received full-time soccer scholarships in the USA to improve their skills.

Result from today: Wexford 1; Shamrock Rovers 1. Draw a reasonable result. First half was fairly forgettable and finished 0-0. Wexford improved greatly in second half when Sadie Murphy and Maria Delahunty came on as subs. Wexford went ahead with what looked like a controversial goal. Ball is knocked on by Rianna Jarrett from a long ball forward. Sadie Murphy runs towards the ball and linesman immediately flags for what looks like offside not a free. Sadie runs on to the ball and drills it past the Rovers' keeper with a decent shot. Linesman eventually drops flag and ref runs over to linesman, has a few words and awards the goal. Little protest from Rovers, however. Rovers react well and win a corner which is eventually struck goalwards and blocked on the line by a handball. Peno given and straight red for Wexford defender. The very impressive Rachel Jenkins for Rovers sticks peno away for 1-1. Both sides then try to get winner but without effect. 1-1 at full time with about 60 at it. Jessica Gleeson carried off during first half for Wexford, so I hope she's ok.

Result from today: Wexford 1, Raheny 1. Wexford's goal from Rianna Jarrett after 15 minutes. Draw a reasonable result with both sides doing well with the breeze in their favour. Wexford had a great chance to win it right at the end but the chance was put wide.

Result from this evening: Wexford 4, Galway 2 in an excellent game. On 11 minutes, Galway didn't clear their lines and Julie Testropp was set up inside the box and finished neatly. On 41 minutes, Galway equalised when a cross went beyond the far post and was returned back and then finished home from close in. Galway nearly went ahead when Mary Rose Kelly in the Wexford goal gave the ball away and then deflected the shot onto the top of the crossbar for a corner. 1-1 at half-time.

With 7 minutes gone in the second half, Ashling Frawley did well to win the ball off a Galway defender in the corner and crossed for Edel Kennedy to finish at the near post for 2-1. Immediately, Galway won a penalty and Mary Rose did brilliantly to get a strong right hand to the spot kick which was drilled down the middle. However, a few minutes later, a bad clearance gave McKenzie for Galway the chance to chip the ball home into Wexford's unguarded net for 2-2. On 21 minutes, Wexford regained the lead when Amy Walsh hit a lovely diagonal effort into the opposite corner for 3-2. A penalty in the last minute by Jessica Gleeson made it 4-2 and secured the three points for the home side. Best for Wexford were Jessica Gleeson, Ciara Rossiter and Maria Delahunty. About 100 in attendance.

Result from today: Wexford 2 Raheny 3. Another cracking match and shows that Wexford aren't too far away, particularly if they had a full squad at their disposal. Wexford were the sharper in the first half, but conceded a bad goal midway through the half when an ambitious pass in defence went astray and McCabe finished well past Mary Rose Kelly for 1-0 to Raheny at half-time. Second half started with a second yellow for Raheny's McCabe to give the home side a player advantage. However, Wexford conceded another softish goal immediately afterwards when a Wexford free-kick was headed back over the Wexford defence to leave Clare Shine to poke the ball past Kelly for 2-0 to Raheny. Wexford then lost Amy Walsh to a second yellow when she aggressively tried to tackle a Raheny player trying to shield the ball out to bring it to 10 apiece. With twenty to go, Raheny looked as if they had made it safe when Shine got her second when volleying home after a good cross. However, with fifteen to go, Kylie Murphy smacked one home to bring it to 3-1. Wexford then had another really good chance but the ball was hit straight at the Raheny keeper from eight yards out. Wexford then went down to nine when one of their players limped off with all subs. used. However, despite this, Wexford applied all the pressure and got another with two minutes to go when Edel Kennedy buried one low left from inside the box. Final whistle went shortly afterwards for 3-2 to Raheny. Only difference you could say between the two sides was that Raheny looked the better unit in attack. Best for Wexford were a smashing effort from Ciara Rossiter and Amy Walsh before she went off. About 50 at the match.

Result from today: Wexford 1; DLR Waves 0. Not a great game with only a horror own goal by DLR splitting the two sides with the DLR right-full passing it to the DLR centre-half who turned it past her own keeper all under minimum pressure after 15 minutes of the first half. Wexford's passing game a bit sloppier than usual. A DLR centre-half got a harsh straight red with twenty to go in the second after being adjudged to be the last player back. Mary Rose Kelly in the Wexford goal had only a few routine catches to make throughout the game. Wexford now have a home semi-final in the League Cup.

Result from today: Wexford 2; Raheny 1, after extra time. Stunning strike from Rianna Jarrett in the second half of extra time to give Wexford the win they deserved after Raheny had equalised in injury time after the 90 minutes. First goal for Wexford had been scored early in the first half by Nicola Sinnott. About 200 at the match.

Wexford now meet Castlebar in the final.

Result from today: Wexford 3; Castlebar 0. Comfortable win and first trophy for Wexford women once they went a goal ahead. Both sides were fairly tentative in the first half with only one decent chance apiece. On 8 minutes, Rianna Jarrett volleyed over from 20 yards out and then, two minutes later, Castebar's Rowe shot about a yard wide from just outside the box for 0-0 at half-time. Second-half was a different matter. On three minutes, Rianna Jarrett headed home from a corner from Maria Delahunty for 1-0 to the home side. Castlebar then went up the pitch immediately and had a shot deflected just beyond the far post with Mary Rose Kelly stranded in Wexford's goal for a corner. Then, on the 25 minute mark, Rianna Jarrett was through on goal having controlled a loose ball and got taken down with a peno for the home side and a straight red for Flood of Castlebar. Rianna sent the Castlebar keeper the wrong way from the spot for 2-0 to Wexford and game over. Mary Rose in the Wexford goal did well to punch away a good Castlebar free with five to go, but otherwise it was all Wexford. Right on the 90 minute mark, Rianna was through again on the Castlebar goal but her shot was blocked by the Castlebar keeper and then rebounded to sub Katie McCarthy who stuck the rebound away for 3-0 to Wexford. Best for Wexford was Rianna Jarrett who is undoubtedly the best forward in the country now she is back to fitness. Others to impress on the day were Lauren Dwyer who was exceptional at right back and Nicola Sinnott who mopped up everything in defence. The team is a great credit to the Wexford mentors. About 800 in attendance.

Result from today (FAI Cup) Wexford 7, Cork 0. As the scoreline suggests, big big gap between the two teams and you'd worry for Cork, after their torrid season last year, unless they can find reinforcements at home. (Both sides looked to have very small panels available with Wexford having two subs and Cork only one, as far as I could make out.) The big news on the player front for Wexford is that they've lost Lauren Dwyer to Raheny, Linda Douglas to Peamount and Rianna Jarrett to a college in the USA.

Scorers today were Clare O'Riordan, Aoibheann Webb and Kylie Murphy, all with two each, and Ashling Frawley with a peno in the last minute. About 70 at the match.

Result from today: Wexford 1, Cork 0. Much better game than the cup match of two weeks ago, but still reasonably comfortable for Wexford with Tamara Furlong in the Wexford goal having only one save to make and an excellent Cork keeper, Trish Fennelly, making a string of good saves. Wexford look quite strong in defence and midfield and the only question is whether one or more of their forwards, Amy Walsh, Clare O'Riordan and Aoibhin Webb, can replicate the goal threat of last season. Only goal of the game was by Aoibhin after 35 minutes, with a good finish from inside the area. Best for Wexford were Ciara Rossiter and Nicola Sinnott, while Nikki Dunphy, who missed last year, did well after coming on as a sub. About 75 at the match.

Result from today: Wexford 2, Raheny 5. Impressive performance from Raheny who were much the stronger physically and with a lot of talent in their forwards. Wexford had a great chance to go 2-1 up when the match was 1-1 and Raheny then went down the other end and scored. Great efforts from Edel Kennedy and Kylie Murphy in midfield for Wexford while new signings Carol Breen and Shauna Wall also impressed. Hard to see Raheny being stopped this year. Wexford's goals came from Becky Cassin and Kylie Murphy.

Result from today: Wexford 5, Galway 1. Best performance from the home side this season so far that I've seen as Galway are handy enough. Goalscorers were Clare O'Riordan with a first-half hat-trick and second half goals from Kylie Murphy and Aisling Frawley. Wexford look much stronger in defence with the return of Jessica Gleeson and they seemed at times to be playing only three at the back with Gleeson the sole centre-half alongside Ciara Rossiter and Nikki Dunphy.

Result from today: Wexford 3, Peamount 2. Welcome three points for the home side but not a convincing performance especially in the second half when they seemed to lose shape and poise when playing with the wind. Peamount scored a peno in the first few minutes but Wexford took control thereafter with goals from Carol Breen, Clare O'Riordan and Amy Walsh to make it 3-1 to Wexford at half-time. However, Wexford played poorly in the second period and also missed a peno by Clare O'Riordan. A second goal from Peamount's impressive Amber Barrett late on made the finish tighter than it should have been. 3-2 to Wexford at full-time.

Result from today: Wexford 3, Castlebar 1. Comfortable win for the home side, although Castlebar got it back to 2-1 with about ten minutes to go. Result from tonight: Wexford 2, UCD Waves 1. Late penalty from Kylie Murphy secured Wexford' s progression in the League Cup after tight match between two evenly matched sides. Wexford started the better and went ahead after ten minutes when Clare O'Riordan latched onto a good through-ball and finished coolly. UCD dominated the second half of the first period and forced a number of corners but Wexford's defence was quite secure. 1-0 to Wexford at half-time.

Very few chances were created in the second and then, with 15 minutes to go, UCD equalised when a cross from the left was converted from close in. Then, with three minutes to go, Wexford's Carol Breen used her pace to drive into the penalty box where she got taken down with a peno for Wexford. This was successfully converted by Kylie Murphy although the UCD keeper got a hand to it. Match finished soon after with 2-1 scoreline to Wexford. Best for Wexford were Edel Kennedy, Carol Breen and Clare O'Riordan, with Kylie Murphy also impressing after coming on as a sub.

Excellent win by the home side against UCD in a very cold Ferrycarrig this afternoon as a result of Wexford dominating the second period. First half was virtually devoid of chances although UCD looked dangerous with the useful Julie Ann Russell doing well down UCD's left. However, Mary Rose Kelly in the Wexford goal hardly had a save to make during the first half. Nearest to scoring in the first half was Wexford's Carol Breen who nearly managed to steer the ball home after a Wexford free-kick, but it was saved at the post by McGuirk in the UCD goal. 0-0 at half-time.

First goal came after five minutes of second half when Clare O'Riordan won the ball from a UCD defender and crossed for Carol Breen to despatch neatly into the UCD net for 1-0. Wexford continued to be the better side during the second period, and after 22 minutes, Wexford had a penalty claim denied but the ball broke to Clare O'Riordan who smashed it home from an angle from 15 yards out to make the game safe at 2-0. On the half-hour, Wexford went 3-0 up when McGuirk in the UCD goal had a swing and a miss at a rolling ball to leave Clare O'Riordan to tap home for 3-0. Substitutions during this half for Wexford were Aoibhin Webb, Shauna Wall and Rachel Hutchinson. Mary Rose Kelly's first effective save came in the last minute when she managed to tip over a point-blank header by UCD to keep a clean sheet. Match finished on 3-0 scoreline. Best for Wexford were the midfielders of Edel Kennedy and Kylie Murphy, while Clare O'Riordan led the line very effectively and Nicola Sinnott mopped up everything at the back for Wexford. Excellent result for the home side with two key players of Rianna Jarrett and Jess Gleeson both missing through injury.

Pivotal moment in today's match against Cork came as early as the fourth minute when Carol Breen was through on goal for Wexford and got taken down by a Cork defender. Ref Sean Grant flashed a red and awarded a free to Wexford outside the box. First goal for Wexford came after 12 minutes when a free by Kylie Murphy sailed all the way in at the far post for 1-0 to Wexford. Second goal for Wexford didn't happen until 40 minutes but it was 4-0 at half-time. Second half was more or less about how many Wexford would score and it finished 10-0 at full-time with Clare O'Riordan (4), Carol Breen (3), Kylie Murphy, Shauna Wall and Becky Cassin being the goalscorers. Very bad clash of heads towards the end between Shauna Wall and a Cork defender meant that both sides finished with nine as Edel Kennedy had already been taken off for Wexford as a precautionary measure with all subs. used. Very comfortable win as the scoreline suggests.

Shocking news in this week's local papers about Rianna Jarrett. Playing her first senior international against Norway on Ireland's recent trip to La Manga, she has now done her anterior cruciate ligament for the second time in less than three years at the age of only 21/22. Needs an operation and many months of recovery. Very best of luck to her.

Extraordinarily bad luck in injury terms for Rianna Jarrett who I described a few seasons ago as the best forward playing domestically that I've seen. Since then, she has played in USA and suffered an ACL injury. In February 2015, she went to La Manga, Spain on a national training session and got another ACL injury. She then recovered and played a few games for WYW and was recently selected in the Irish squad to travel to the Cyprus Cup which is currently taking place. Six minutes into her debut, she has now suffered an ACL injury for the third time.
