View Full Version : Bohemians and Galway both in trouble...Promotion possibility?

I see that Bohemians are holding an Extraordinary General Meeting tonight to discuss the future of the club, which is is serious debt and facing a winding up order. Surely such financial irregularity will prevent them from getting a Premier licence. Galway are very much in the same boat...
I know it wouldn't be the ideal way to go up, but after what will be 18 years in the wilderness I'd take it in a heartbeat.

I think we'd all take it alright but as mentioned before it would have been nice to have our big day out.
I don't think many if any would complain though if we went up. We finished a mile ahead of 5th and where denied by off the field reasons.
If we are to be promoted we need to know early though and not 1 or 2 weeks before the season starts.

Galway withdraw from the league, it's in the (spit) Independent today. Or at least on their website.

Ya Galway are gone now. If we apply and get a premier license then we are next in line for a premier place. I can't see Bohs not starting next season in the premier though despite the problems they are having.

Correct me if I'm wrong but...there are no Premier places available unless Bohs are gone? Galway were relegated right? So it should be no matter if they went bust or not.

I think the point is that had Bohs gone bust, Galway would have been next in line, with Limerick after that. So with Galway going bust, Limerick have jumped the queue a bit.

Don't think any fans would want us up that way. Its not going to happen anyway so nothing for us to think about.

I'd be perfectly happy to get promoted that way.

Normally I'd agree, but we did enough to make the play-offs this year on the pitch, no doubt we would have overcome Galway, so on that basis I'd be happy enough to get promoted this year on paper, since thats how we were denied what we earned the proper way.

Can through Bray into the mix now. While I expect Bray to get their license there is talk that they will struggle to get one with financial troubles, board members stepping down. If they fail to get one we will be up.

LImerick are struggling to get a first division licence never mind a licence for the premier division unless they open up the markets field.

If we got one last season I see no reason for them to refuse us this season. Didn't I hear somewhere that Thomond Park can be used temporarily if needs be for a premier license?

I'd still hate to see us go up on a technicality. Let's just do it on the pitch this year!

ordinarily I'd agree...but my conscience would be clear on this occasion as I think we stayed down on a technicality last season. Not going to happen anyway.
