Can't let the Premier boys have it all their own way. For me:

Sava (Monaghan)

Ryan (Shelbourne)
Purcell (Limerick)
Boyle (Shelbourne)
Murphy (Cork)

Byrne (Shelbourne)
Morrissey (Cork)
Cassidy (Shelbourne)
R Brennan (Monaghan)

Cummins (Cork)
Hughes (Shelbourne)

Subs:
Burns (Waterford)
Paisley (Shelbourne)
Spillane (Cork)
Horgan (Cork) a cert if he wasn't only here a few months
Gaffney (Mervue/Limerick)
Dawson (Shelbourne)
S Brennan (Monaghan)

I can't argue with much of that. I also agree on Daryl Horgan. IMO, the best player in the division, what a pity that we can't keep him. Also, Cathal Lordan is just coming back from a long-term injury for us, if he had been playing, he'd have been a shoe-in.

EDIT: Hold on a minute, Davin O'Neill?

Played in at least two games against us so that's mainly(our games against other teams) what I'm going on and he was very good.

He's a very good player. I hope he gets back from this injury.

He and Jason Molloy were deemed surplus to requirements by Seanie. We were much better off with Steve Feeney and Brian Cash.

O'Neill was rubbish on the wing, his goals and form came when he played up top.

For me Cummins is a shoe in for player of the year again, but Daryl Horgan would have run him close if hed been in the division all season. He has 6 goals from the wing in half a season which is pretty good going. Makes him our third top scorer I think (maybe tied with Shane Duggan)

Would still have O Neill in my best starting XI. I wouldn't look too much into the fact O Neill is down as left wing from reading that.

I think the First Divisions strongest 11 is probably the strongest their has ever been.

He has 5 goals, level With Gearoid in 5th spot.

yeah you are right, Soccerway credited him for a goal against Shels - That was Gavin Kavanaghs goal

Dean Delaney (Shels)

Danny Murphy (Cork)
Stephen Paisley (Shels)
Pat Purcell (Limerick)
Ian Turner (Cork)

David Cassidy (Shels)
Sean Brennan (Mons)
Shane Duggan (Cork)
Davin O'Neill (Cork)

Philly Hughes (Shels)
Graham Cummins (Cork)

I had thought of putting the likes of Kevin Murray (Waterford), Paudie Quinn (Limerick), Kevin McHugh (Harps), Fabio O'Brien (Mons) and Rory Gaffney (Mervue/Lims) but stuck with the 11 that most impressed me this season.
Delaney looked solid in nets for the most part, the 2 cork full backs constant bombing forward were very impressive while Paisley and Purcell's experience meant it was no surprise to see they both featured in the 2 tightest defences in the league.
It's a pretty attacking midfield too, there must be over 40 goals between the 4 of them in the league.
Top 2 goalscorers in the league and a handful for any defence was the reason for the front 2.

I'd have to give Cassidy player of the season. He'll be a real addition to the Premier division next season.

i feel like im doing nothign to help the City players cause

Ian Turner was in and out of the team at right back and was supposed to go on loan to Wexford. He was most impressive when reborn as a winger. Neal organ has been our right back for the majority of the season

Cassidy 14
Sean Brennan 13
O'Neill 12
Duggan 6

though you are cheating a bit - Davin and Cassidy aren't really midfielders

also Delaney has been fierce dodgy whenever I've seen him

Sava is the best goalkeeper

its definitely Kavanaghs goal, I remember thinking at the time that Daryl didn't get a touch and the replays convinced me I was right. Horgan never claimed it and all the media corrected themselves a day or two later to give it to Kav

Cassidy very much is a midfielder.....all our football goes through him, he just happens to be able to break forward when we are playing with one up front. What would you call him if he isnt a midfielder btw?

the apex. the link man in a 4-5-1 (4-4-1-1) a second striker, a deep lying forward - Fat Frank, Steven Gerrard.... Vincent Escudé-Candau

Have to agree with a lot of whats said above.
Can't choose a best 11 though, but a few players stood out.

Gabriel Sava - has been solid any time I saw him apart from one terrible mistake against Harps. Last time round make one of the best individual goalkeeper performances in years in Finn Park.

Graham Cummins, - Quality player and will terrorise defences in the Premier and will score a hatful of goals. Expect Cork to be there or there about next season.

Philly Hughes - the bol**ks just won't go away and pops up with another 5 million goals for the season. A tub, but has a serious touch and finish.

Sean Brennan - Both Brennans are quality, but Sean stood out more for me, simply has to be playing in the Premier next season whether with Mons or another team.

Rory Gaffney - class act. I think he's struggled to settle at Limerick as of yet, but was the clear stand out player for Mervue and had them sitting where they are in the table now.

I dont see how you could put Derek in ahead of Daryl. Derek only played about the same amount of games as Daryl, being a sub for most games since Daryl came in.

One decent cross doesn't take away the hours of frustration looking at him doubled over hands on his knees puffing hard.

Any game I'd seen him in against Limerick, he was excellent.
Went to watch Cork in both Athlone and Longford, where again, the man was excellent.
I'm only basing it on what I've seen, but I do also think Paudie Quinn with Limerick has been the shock of the year. What a talent.

Paudie is an incredible big game player for a youngfella. 2 goals in Gortakeegan, Tolka and Turners this year, generally scores decent ones too.

For the record I think these threads where fans of clubs pick the team for the whole division based on the three times they've seen everyone are pish.

Like here's some random thoughts from the games I've seen which prob aren't true:

The Shels left full whoever he is is an abomination.
So's Kalen Spillane.
Graham Cummins is a one trick pony.
Jordan Keegan is a potential superstar.
Athlones keeper is fairly decent.
Stephen Paisley is a gutless, one legged wastrel.
Mervue have three or four very decent players.
That Romanian with Salthill wasn't bad.
Pakie Holden is brilliant.
That bald centre half with Monaghan is garbage.
Bray are terrible and have no place in football.
Keith Gillespie is a disgusting insult to Longford fans.
Chris Deans is crap.
Finn Harps don't have any good players.
Neither do Waterford.

And so on and so forth.

I don't know about that now..Mons may argue that Aaron O'Hagan was their favourite player this season..

Not just that either, over the course of the entire season more other players have been more key to their teams in the middle of the park than Gamble.

I haven't more Limerick players in my team because I don't think they deserve to be in a head of those other players. We had a great season and a strong team but lets not forget some of our performances this season have been shocking but we came away with results.

Looking forward to seeing City back in the Prem Lge next yr and hoping Cummins does the business and keeps up the family tradition. He's already beaten his cousins record of goals per season for City so lets hope he can do something similar in the Prem Lge
