Very sad to see hear about this. A true gentleman. And a great servant to the Town. Always had time for me, be it in the GC or in Flancare. I'll miss him. RIP John.

A true gentleman and great football man lost to us all. My heartfelt condolances to his family at this time. I will always remember him telling us of the 'old' Town teams gone by as we traveled around the country on the bus to the games or asking how I thought the game would go on the way into Flancare Park. R.I.P. John, we will all miss you around the grounds of Ireland with us.

I knew John was very unwell on monday last but I had no idea on what had happened next. John was a gentleman, legend and top class committee member of the supporter club and was very known for running supporters club buses all over the country. He was involved with the town both as a player and on the executive committee and the supporters club. I echo entirely massop 10's description of him. I also would have known his son Brian whos living down in Cork and is a big town fan. He wasnt at the game in turners cross like he normally does. To John's family I express my deepest sympathies. May he rest in peace .
