Galway are 0-4 down to Bray already. I don't fancy their chances against whoever finishes 3rd.

Colm Tresson has scored for us tonight, aged 40 years, 3 months and 22 days. Surely he's the oldest LOI goalscorer?
Also, who's the oldest player to make an LOI appearance?

You've edited it and still got the score wrong..tsk. I think ye should beat Salthill and Harps handy enough and that sets up a good game for the title against Cork.

Well done, Limerick. So they basically need, in order of descending likelihood, one or more of the following:
Bohs to implode off the pitch
Athlone to beat Monaghan
Shels to screw it up v S Devon and Harps.

The Brennans are back for Athlone, though. They'll murder them. Shame, I mean, the mondogs and all that, but I have mates down in Limerick that I can visit on an away trip. (Jesus, there I am stopping myself from tempting fate - Shels still have to get promoted - I didn't know I was superstitious).

Fair play to Sligo, is all they could do really to stay in with a slim chance of the title. Good stuff by Limerick as well, I hope they get that bit of luck they need to get into the top 3. Preferably at the expense of the Mons from my point of view. I wouldn't support Cork in a million years but it'll be good for Munster football to have them in the Premier. I regards Shels as a big name, I'd like to see them in the Premier. Limerick then, for a so-called sporting city/county, should have a team in the top flight of Irish football.

Weird feeling at the end of the game last night, watching the Bohs fans singing in Dalymount for possibly the last time. Could get the feeling around the place that they are definitely gone.

Yeah, let's just decide promotion on the basis of geographic areas and city sizes. Maybe a few bonus points for a fancy DVD. How did that work out before then?

Couldnt be any worse then if ye were up anyway......Ye will have to get in the Navy Seals if Rovers or Bohs come to town in numbers.

Blah blah I'm from Kerry blah blah geographical distribution of the LOI blah blah winning should be based on population and sporting history [/repeat again and again no matter what the context]
Tell you what, there's a f*ckload of people in China, so FIFA should auto-qualify them for every world cup.

I wished the Mons well last season in the play-offs, not that it matters. I've only mentioned the 3 clubs I'd like to see promoted. Two because they are in Munster and the third because they're a club, despite the troubles they've had, that I'd still hold in a high regard. My comment on the size of Limerick, it was angled that because of size they should be automatically in the top flight etc. There's a lot of football clubs in Limerick and good players. My view on that is that the club should be in the top flight. To expand on should, it's not a divine right, they're not good enough at the moment and are rightfully where they are. If Limerick keep progressing as they are, I think they will get to the top flight, which will match the work put in on and off the field.

Pantomime goal in fairness. Wait till you see it on MNS. Oh Lordy. Everyone around me was screaming at Bennion "He's behind you" Couldn't believe it when he actually dropped the ball. It was one of those moments when you thought, "He's not going to..he's not going to...,oh fluck he just did." You'd have thought that maybe one of the back four might have given him a shout too. Farcical end to a horrible week. Played well though, should have won comfortably.

Hehe that was a good moment. Hancock had a shocker last night still havent worked out why mceleneys goal was disallowed.
Met poor Bennion and Pete over at the local centra this morning doing their bit for charity, still had to give him stick though

Well Tom does have his faults but one thing you can never claim is that hes a Shams lover, he dislikes everyone equally.
That rules Matthews the Shams arse licker out.

For blatantly controlling the ball with his arm a good enough reason? I think the confusion was that Hancock went to have a chat with Bradley for a late tackle in the move that led to the handball and everyone thought Hancock pulled it back for a Derry free as opposed to playing advantage. But he had played advantage and gave a free out for the handball.
But I agree Hancock had a shocker, so many soft fouls given that really never were and well a very soft peno to say the least.

I was a bit worried when I saw Galway's manager (interim manager?) John Brennan standing behind me at Drom tonight, as in, "Is he expecting Shels in the play off?" Well, I needn't have worried. I already touched wood (the fence around the pitch).
He said 'wood'. Ha ha. Exciting match.

He says he wants Mons (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkITZiqaHY0) in the playoff, btw :)

if the first division outfit who plays in the play off doesnt win the play off they better off not in the premier. Lims if they dont make the cut could still be promoted if something happens with Bohs
If 2 teams go out of business, and any two of the galway teams amalgamate where does that leave the first division next year

Tom has been a regular in Finn Park since he moved to Ballybofey, saw him trying to get a word out of Alan Matthews at Shels match earlier in the season at Finn Park.
On Harps last night...4 goals in about 20 minutes and the rest of the match was pretty horrible. Wexford were absolutely dire.

In the past, teams going bust has saved the Premier side, not promoted the First Division side. So it seems Galway would benefit if Bohs go under (unless Galway win the play-off, of course)

Stu is right in one sense but would Galway get a Premier licence for next year?
If not it would go to the next ranked premier licensed side which based on this season would be Longford Town!

of how it feels for the ever faithful 600 that turned up last friday to be getting thumped,
One programme seller last friday left his standing spot10 mins before half time to make his way up to the clubhouse by the time he walked up to the clubhouse and having a leak on the way 4 goals were conceded. in 7 minutes.
I wonder how much of this punishment a fan can take. Dont worry Charlie It would be lazurus like to win any play off at the minute. The club has got a major sponsor and close to closing 6 associate sponsors for the next 3 years regardless of what division we are in. But loads of work to build any sort of club from ashes. Jumbo & Murphs will need space to put their stamp on the playing side. Hard to do that in a premier getting thumped week in week out. Ya still have to try though, put 11 out and fulfill fixtures and take any break that may go your way.

Ye had no right to be up there anyway ye lost the play off.
Ye were told ye were up pending an appeal by Galway so what was the problem? Its your own fault if ye were stupid enough to take it ye were up after being told it was pending appeal.
