The Republic of Ireland international is one of the most feared left-sided players in the world, but given the arrival of Arjen Robben this summer, he is not totally assured of a starting berth.
There are also rumours that the new boss could play a system without out-and-out wingers, but Duff says he is ready to fit in where needs be.
He told Chelsea TV: "I'd like to think I can adapt to different formations. Hopefully I will do well under the new boss.
"I am a winger but I would like to think I have more strings to my bow and can be adaptable."
Duff is currently recovering from a second dislocated shoulder suffered last season, but he should be ready to face Manchester United in the opening game of the new campaign.
