Great to see JOF has signed until the end of 2005 but I wouldn't call 1 season long term as is reported elsewhere!! I suppose Flynnie wants to keep his options open...

Great news that he is resigning. It looks like next year will be the big push for league success.
If he leaves the club at the end of next season, will we be due any compensation? He will be 23.
Still great news though. :) Robbie Doyle is not joining. Pheeeeew! :p

Why not have a press conference. It generates media attention.
I'd rather we had the press conference rather than Northampton!

Exactly!
We're always going about the poor media coverage.
At the moment we're the darlings of the Irish sporting media.
Why not keep our profile high by ensuring the media have yet another reason to talk positively about us.
Well done City.

well Peadar you would think so but alas ...... from today's Times from the pen of the "great" Gavin Cummiskey :
"Cork City's Intertoto exploits have been highly commendable but a successful run by Shelbourne would do wonders for domestic football"
same old Dublin ........

he's made a more important point accidentally.
thanks to our good run recently, the league has gotten a nice bit of coverage and some of the barstoolers seem interested, but if Bohs, Shels and Longford don't perform well in their games, we;'ll be back to square one, with everyone seeing it as a flash in the pan.
That could reflect badly on the league, as euro competition usually does.

john o flynn "the liklehood is that i will go back to england at some stage but moving to cork city has been the best move of my life so far and im hoping that staying for an extra year will help repay the debt i fell i owe the fans"
not good news about going back over but fair play for mentioning the fans

in fairness, we've known that was the score since day one, better than losing him on a Bosman at the end of the season.
Good news, but am kind of disappointed it is not for longer.

he spoke on RedFM of him "not being ready" to go cross channel, so a one year deal suits him down to the ground. you can tell he really wants to give england another crack again
great stuff. 1 year though? we'll have speculation this time next year again so :(
Well if he wants to move to a bigger club or better league he'll have to impress in the coming year. Foreign clubs are less likely to take players as they get older too. Then again do we really want players that other clubs don't want - its a good sign other clubs queuing up for city players but up to the club to show players can progress in the eL.

heres a thought
maybe flynny is still going at the end of the season but signed a contract out of loyalty to the club so that they can get a price for him

how about he only signed for one year to get fit again and then he's off?
Important section of From Press Release:
City Chairman, Brian Lennox said “John’s decision is a great boost for the club. We are continuing to work very hard off the pitch so as to ensure that we can provide John and indeed the rest of the squad with a professional environment in which they can continue to grow and develop as players.”

I was at the press conference and i cant remember that being said by John, he had mentioned that he turned down offers from abroad and there were one or two question posed to him and Dolan with the playing across the water thing being thrown in. To be honest John spoke mostly about playing for City. Cant remember him saying "the liklehood is that i will go back to england "
