That was quick!

I'm happy out with this, by far the best draw we could have hoped for. Estonia do seem to have improved over the years though and will be no push-over. I can see us drawing away and winning at home.

Trap's luck just refuses to run out. We'll probably end up winning the tournament. Excellent draw.

Actually the first leg away trip is more important if somebody has it?

Best draw by miles, with all due respect to Estonia and their recent achievements. Great news.

As has previously been mentioned, i'm not sure whether having the home leg second is as big an advantage to us as it would be to other sides. But its not a hindrance either. So yeah, happy days!

2nd leg 15th...?

Am I right in thinking anyone who was at the Aviva on Tuesday v Armenia has priority on tickets for the 2nd leg? (I think I heard them announce this at the end of the match?)

great draw, my money is on Estonian fans to be pretty pleased too..
however - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estonia_national_football_team

looking over this and their qualifying record, I reckon they have over achieved (I've even seen their coach say as much) and while Ihate the favourites tag for this Irish team, an away draw and home win should be doable - an away goal in the pocket will be essential though.

Be good. But if you can't be good, be lucky.

No excuses now: the lowest ranked opponent, home leg second. This kind of tie is made for the 'professional' approach that Ireland have currently. All we need now is the rub of the green with injuries and the players not to do anything stupid in the first leg.

13/10/2011, 12:27 PM
Also, thanks Northern Ireland for losing to Estonia to give us, on paper, an easier tie. I'm sure they're delighted.

So no Doyle for game one and RK is a question mark at this point? Hopefully we can stay healthy.
Anyone know of suspensions/injuries for the Stonies?

I really hope we have a huge travelling army out there. There is no doubt the atmospheree got to the Spanish ref on Tuesday night. The fans will have a huge part to play in both legs.

Delighted. These fellas have lost four times during this qualification already, including a 2-0 in the Faroes. Surely the weakest playoff opponent we've ever had. No excuses for not qualifying.

On the flipside, I think they'll be at their happiest having drawn us too. Bring it on.

French Toasht
13/10/2011, 12:32 PM
From fans point of view, probably the cheapest location we could have got too. Talinn is a great old spot aswel.

French Toasht
13/10/2011, 12:35 PM
They do seem a paradox it must be said.

Like they almost lost twice to the Faroes but then beat both Serbia and Slovenia away. Definately the best draw we could have hoped for, but no doubt it will still be a nail biter.

Has the second draw been made to determine home and away? I'd like to start booking flights now but need to know the date we'll be in Tallinn.

MagicMon
13/10/2011, 12:37 PM
Looking at the wikipedia page, most of the Estonian winner/equalizers came soon after the opposition had scored, or in the last 15 minutes, so that will target Ireland's traditional approach of having a nap after scoring or parking the bus near the end.

But the Faroes came close to doing the double over them- quick, someone get on the phone to Brian Kerr!
