I'm glad we won, but that was completely depressing. We were awful. We are light years behind the Armenians ffs in terms of technical ability. They outpassed us with a man less.

Really dont agree, we kept the ball fairly well, had the best of the chances and absolutely deserved to win. I love how before the match everyone said that Armenia were a great side and would be a real test, then we beat them and it's "well its only Armenia". We've just go to the playoffs for the 2nd time in a row, ask any Belgian fans how they'd like that.

they were a real test. at one point they had 70% possession. with 10 men. away from home. we are just wrong-headed on almost every level. they were gliding through midfield with skillful 1 and 2 touch play, whether with the ball on the deck or lofted to teammates in space. their close control and dynamism when dribbling obliterated ours. we get the ball in midfield and automatically take three touches before pegging it sideways or to our fullbacks. duff, one of our better players was often haring away with the ball at his feet... towards our own goal. when walters came on and did very simple things effectively, he looked a revelation.

Neither had anything to play for, so I doubt you could take it as read that Slovakia wouldn't have found more if they were closer.

Doyle missed a sitter which created the og so I don't consider the og fortunate.
Armenia got a goal when we fell asleep. Even Shay could have done much better.
That 2 minute period was sloppy beyond belief, all professionalism was lost in the glare of going 2 up.
That is precisely where games can be lost. Unforgivable at this level with all the experience in our team
Considering how Armenia have played against Russia and Slovakia we were more in control. The hyped up Armenian threat was neutralized before their goalie was sent off. When we passed it around in the 2nd half, we looked comfortable without creating anything. Probably need a bit more practice in that department:)

Trap's selection of Cox was justified and Walters is our type of player, meat muscle and skill.

It was a pi55 poor group - perhaps the worst quality group in the competition. Our playing resources suggest we should finish second or near enough to it.

We won because they had a man sent off that shouldn't have been, and one of their defenders makes a once in a lifetime error. Apart from the first fifteen minutes of the second half we were utter rubbish, and completely outplayed in every department. We don't even try to play decent football.

According to RTE online it is excellent France scored for us to be seeded.
Samir Nasri equalises for France against Bosnia. That means it is now Bosnia heading for the play-offs.

2130 Slovenia have done us a massive favour. They lead Serbia by one goal with three minutes left, thus putting Estonia in the play-offs.

2128 Estonia, Montenegro and Bosnia would certainly be seeded below Ireland. Turkey may pip us?
