Thought this was a nice gesture:

They could have invited Barcelona, Real Madrid or Manchester United to inaugurate their fine new stadium. Instead a great Italian institution summoned the club standing 12th in the third tier of English football to join Thursday's opening ceremony and, if there has been a more elegant gesture in the history of football, it would be good to hear of it.

Was surprised that there wasn't much comment on here last night. Only noticed it when I was flicking through looking for NFL. Set it for record.
Funnily I never even thought why it had occurred knowing the history of the 2 clubs. I still don't know the score so I will gladily read that article later.

Juve famously borrowed the shirts from Notts County- otherwise the record Italian champions would have won two European Cups in pink!

Watching this game now. Stadium looks amazing. It's on my list for sure. Opening ceremony was great.
Only 41000 capacity to ensure a good atmosphere. Sounds great so far. Long way from the old place.

Not quite in the same league, but Slavia Prague opened their new ground (http://www.ouafc.com/news/254)with a game against Oxford University in 2008 - similar idea; their first opponents away back in the day.

Still nice to see touches like that in a commercial game. And even nicer to see Notts County claim a late equaliser!
