Bit of a strange one and a longshot. But, my girlfriend is a stylist and was working for a salon. Now she is going to be working for herself from now on but still from the same building. She has arranged to pay rent on a chair...
Right so the issue is this. They have one laser/credit card payment machine in house and all transactions have gone through it. To save hassle she would like to get her own, I'm just wondering does anyone have history with trying to get one? And wants involved i.e setup or cost/rental

A mate of mine is in the news agent game so I'll ask him as he went through all of this with his shop a couple of months ago.

She'll likely need to be a limited company and have a good financial history.

If she has to pay anything extra for Laser, don't. It'll be dead next year.

So Shannonman. Sorry for not getting back to you til now, haven't seen my mate since the question was asked.

Best thing for her to do is go to her own bank and speak to one of the business officers. They're only too happy to give them put as they make cash on each transaction anyway. It's not too onerous to get them usually. My mates major problem was that his terminal was with aib and his ltd ac was with boi so it took ages for money to get across. So make sure she deals with her own bank.
