Carew Park 3 Caherconlish 0, Jon sommers, Kevin Barry 2
Though to next round Iish battled there socks off in fairness to them I don't recall Gordon making a save. ONe up half time through sommers excellent finish Kevin Barry finished it off in the 2nd half his second goal was out of the world turn and shot about 25 to 30yrds out top corner. View at home up next.

Fairview Rangers 3-2 Kilmallock
Fairview get out of jail after trailing 2-1 with 10 minutes to go. Had the better of the first half, but it was all Kilmallock in the second with the home team struggling to deal with their midfield runners, as the away side finally took advantage of their extra man in that area of the pitch. Both of their most advanced centre mids were involved in scoring and assisting what looked like the winner, until Colin Scanlon steeped up and despatched a free kick to equalise. Fairview then used that momentum to press forward and were rewarded with the winner in the dying seconds, again from a set piece, with Christy Doyle heading home. Good game.

fair summation.
agree they got out of jail, but did think they deserved something from it.
willie o brien and colin scanlon the pick of the bunch for me.
kilmallock's second goal was top drawer.
fine footballing side, but over elaborate at times, taking 5 or 6 passes when 2 would have done.
fairview were more direct in their approach.
in fairness fairview should have gone in at h/t more then one goal up.
special mention for aaron cooney who played well, and jamie stewart in goals.
very calm throughout, and barr one error, had a fine game .
it would have to be a first if jamie played against carew in the next round, what with his dad in the other goals.
probably won't happen, but he will definitely be number 2 on the day.
make a great photo for the leader.

I would agree with O'Brien and Scanlon. Both clear MOTM candidates. O'Brien and Hartnett could have tracked midfield runners a bit better though I have to say, although to be fair, they were a man lighter in that area.
As regards Fairview being more direct, they had to be really. Kilmallock choked off the middle with good pressing so Fairview were forced to hit it long down the flanks. Speaking of the flanks, where did Hayes think he was playing? Very strange performance from him positionally.
Was Aaron Cooney the right full? If so, he did quite well. Certainly better than the lad who played there against Regional.

aaron played right full alright.
and yes james tended to drift into the centre a lot.
why i don't know,as the couple of times he took on the full back,by staying out wide,he did well.
hopefully a lot of the injuries will have cleared up by the time the match against carew comes up.
sunday against aishling might be a struggle,as the A team are using a fair few minors at the moment and they have a match in the afternoon

Shannon Town 0 - 4 Wembley Rvs
Comfortable match in the end for us, was expecting Shannon to give us a better game in fairness.Their new pitch is far better than the old one in corrib drive. It could have easily have been 5 or 6 but we hit the cross bar and had a few bad misses. Best of luck to Shannon for the rest of the season.

Mungret Regional 0 - 3 Janesboro
Well beaten this morning by a very impressive Boro. Thought we battled away well but in the end the better team won. Shane Clarke converted a pen after about 25-30 mins. HT 0-1. Boro added 2 further goals early into the second half, both from corners with v poor defending from our part. In fairness it was comfortable after that for the boro. Best of luck to them in the competitiion I think they could go v close.

Carew Park 1-2 Fairview Rangers
A deserved victory for Fairview. They opened the scoring early on when a parried shot from Colin Scanlon fell to Christy Doyle who made no mistake. Fairview had the extra man in midfield and were making it count, yet a bizarre mistake from goalkeeper Richie Ryan allowed Carew in for an equalizer. Carew were awarded a free kick way out on the right flank. It was struck low and not particularly hard, yet Ryan obviously thought it was going wide and watched it creep into the bottom corner. After that Carew grew in confidence a bit and came into the game but they were struggling to overcome Barnes, O'Brien and Hartnett in the middle. That changed however just before half time, when handbags between Scanlon (who was having a great game) and Mark Slattery led to a red card for both men. Both teams were then forced to go 4-4-1.
Despite the extra space, the second half was an even scrappier affair than the first. The game was clinched when James Hayes popped up on the right for Fairview and sent an excellent cross into the box. Christy Doyle missed it at the near post, but left full (and man of the match) Craig Madigan was there at the back to slam it home. Madigan deserved his goal after putting in a hugely impressive performance, composed in possession at all times. Carew made some changes and went 4-3-2 and managed to fashion a great chance late on only for Jamie O'Sullivan (who picked up a knock earlier in the game) to miss an absolute sitter in the six yard box. The lad was clearly absolutely gutted and had the head down for the remainder of the game.
It would have been harsh on Fairview though who were the better team on the day. Hard to shake the feeling though that two unnecessary red cards ruined the game a bit.

you are spoiling us alan with these very impressive reports very paper like if you dont mind me saying.deserved win for the view and bar one save from the view keeper and sullivans shocking miss carew were second best throughout ,the view midfield did well enough ,thought hartnett and o brien dominent in there, would disagree on the sendings off ,they gave him no other choice and if he had seen another incident earlier another carew player would have gone.halftime cup of tea was most welcome thanks to the home team.

I think the ref had a choice. It was handbags really. A booking each would have sufficed. I did think Carew were putting in a fair few challenges that were a bit dodge though. A couple of studs-up jobs. Pat Boyle in particular was flying around a bit.

How can u say view deserved it.. Carew had a definite Peno turned down.. A great chance by Jamie o Sullivan and another chance where the keeper made a great save... And I can't remember Gordon stewart having to make a save in the whole game apart from the goals..and view weren't shy about putting the boot in themselves.. I think you should take off the blinkers and give a fair report if your going to give one..the only thing you got right was the ref should have gave two yellows instead of red...

YOu must of been at a completely diff game to everyone else there was no way carew should of lost that game they had more than enough chances to level the game and win it. Ref bottled pen sully was just about to shoot past view keeper when he was dragged back red card and pen. BOth teams tackled hard but fair another rubbish statement saying the studs were up if that was the case more red cards would of been givin out. Agree with neverseenit the only thing you actually got right was the double sending off no punches were throw both players had a hold of each others jersey pushing each other two yellows would of done.
