No more innuendo or insinuation about the Shels and Sherrif game or there will be infractions and suspensions.

For joking about something that is being talked about no problem on the main forum?

Could be playing Shels that night yet. Sheriff are being investigated for playing an illegal player.

Sheriff kicked out, you guys progress to the semi according to FAI twitter. (http://twitter.com/#!/FAIreland)

Hate the way the FAI always seem to go out of their way to help you guys :(

We will take that all day long.
Hopefully a home draw to generate interest and more importantly money!!

because they weren't the person who made the complaint about the unregistered player...it was in fact someone in the FAI who figured out that Sherriff where in breach of the rules...Therefore if Shels don't make the complaint they can't benefit...it also means the match fixing thing gets to go away for the club and FAI

It's a crazy decision by the FAI not to reinstate Shel's. What would they do if it happened in a semi-final, have no FAI Cup final?

I would be absolutely shocked if we are not playing Shels in the FAI next weekend.

Apparently shels didn't appeal the illegal player it was someone in the fai that noticed it... Hence the reason shels aren't back in as they didn't appeal it within specified time limit

But they are most likely going appeal now and be reinstated.

I do know in junior soccer though that if a player plays illegally against you you only have a certain length of time to object, if you don't object in time it's a case of tough ****. The objection period is only a few days as far as I know.

But they are most likely going appeal now and be reinstated

There was a rumour last night that they only parties involved in the initial investigation could appeal the decision (ie Sheriff) as an appeal can only look at the information already provided, and nothing else

I know Shels were looking into ALL angles though

Ya I believe you have 7 days to appeal.. So don't think shels have a leg to stand on

Well Shels have lodged an appeal. We'll see if FAI accept it

Bayern Munchies
06/09/2011, 1:42 PM
Well they've appealed now so it's just a case of wait and see what the verdict is now, although it's obviously going to be that Shels are re-instated...FAI giving Limerick something positive HA yeah right...but fook it let's beat the Shels and knock back there confidence abit and send them into there annual bottle job ;)

Maybe that's why the FAI threw in about all affected parties. Appeal is in now anyway so it's in the FAI's hands.

While fantastic for us it would be harsh on Shels, rumours of previous match fixing or not. They lost to a team with an ineligible player, they deserve to go threw. It's going to be harsh on us also though if we go from having a junior team away in the quarter to the top team in our division away.

Shels should be reinstated in my opinion as Sherrif broke the rules, but they should have to forfeit home advantage.
However, we are dealing with the FAI here so anything is possible...

Rules is rules as they say--change rules and reinstate shels and you make a mock of rules and you lose credibility!!

The credible thing to do is let Shels back in - that's what the precedent is. Shels were beaten by a team fielding an ineligible player - everywhere in the world the losing team gets reinstated.

Agree something should be done about where the game would be played. Hopefully this is sorted sooner rather than later, the FAI is next weekend.

but they should have to play away as JoeSoap says.

Why though? They will be taking Sheriff's place who were drawn out first therefore should have home advantage...I'll take a bye please or else some controversy re the betting on their last game

I'm sure there may be rules that would suggest Shels' name should just replace Sheriff's in the draw and that means Shelbourne play in Tolka. But I don't think a team that won their place in the draw on the field should have to play away to a team that is still in the competition by default, just because the non-league side that beat them came out of the hat first. The preference should be to reward the team that wins on the field.

In practical terms though, Sheriff cheated, so Shels should have been in the draw. If they had been, alphabetically they would have been the same number ball as Sheriff, and nothing would have changed. So I don't see that ye'd have a leg to stand on.
