Did it not say somewhere that the Nantes home game is on at 18:00 on the Sunday?
Just checked their official site,
Sundat 18th at 6.00pm is the time they've got, back to the drawing board
Feck those ferries are pricey.
Irish Ferries (superferry) Dub-Hollyhead return for car & 5 people = €418.
England-France with P&O car & 5 people = €454 return.
Comes out at €175 per person using own car, exclusing petrol. Another 20-25 pp petrol,
No wonder no one takes the ferry anymore, puts airline prices in perspective.
There's no competition with the Ferries anymore. At least there is between the airlines.
As for the jinxing arguement, I think the weather will have more effect that us talking about the possibility of travelling to France.

flying into Paris CDG, Saturday evening, flying out Monday afternoon €197, not too bad, splitting car hire between a few or getting a train could still keep this lower than €300 www.aerlingus.com

flying into Paris Beauvais, Saturday evening, flying out Monday afternoon €164, not too bad, splitting car hire between a few or getting a train could still keep this lower than €250 if the Accomodation standards are low ;)

flying into Brussels Charleroi, Saturday evening, flying out Monday evening €88, sounds great although it's a six hour drive, still splitting car hire and driving between a few of us could still keep this lower than €200 if the Accomodation standards are low
Flights to somewhere in mainland europe seem to best option but those prices are not gonna get any cheaper & only going to increase...
Aer Arann also fly waterford to somewhere in Brittany for €85 each way.

Okay,
here's an example of a very rough and very doable itenerary
www.ryanair.com
Dublin to Brussels Charleroi on Sat 17th at 18.55 (arrive 21.30)
Brussels Charleroi to Dublin on Mon 19th at 21.55 (arrive 22.30)
Flights cost €84
www.hotels.com
Stay in the First euroflat hotel in Brussels on the Sat night
Twin Room with two sharing costs €65
Room 1 costs €32.50
Drive to Brussels on Sat morning, six hour spin
car hire through www.hertz.com is €93 for a Ford Focus Diesel, extra driver is €20, petrol (from experience should be about €90), split four to a car
Car Hire costs approx €50
(though I think it'd be cheaper and could be split five ways instead of four)
www.hotelclub.net
Stay in the Grand Hotel de Nantes in Nantes on the Sun night
Twin Room for two sharing costs €61
Room 2 costs €30.50
Split the drive back to Brussels on the Monday morning, flights not until 10pm so time can be taken.
Travel and Accomodation (with a bit of planning);
Total Cost = approx €200
Bit of teamwork a la Nijmegen required, but sounds good to me.

Just seen that myself & eventhough flights might be little more exopensive next week shouldn't go up by too much. Driving on the motorways would be easy when split between 2.
I'm sure could find enough drivers to get the Rebel Army to Nantes. last weeks experience would stand everyone.
btw I owe yourself & liamon €5 each cos diesel was only €25 total for the 500km last week.
pete
chalk me down for that route too , in and out of the pale if ye taking it..
also btw me still owes ya from the ibis in malmo.. got some swedish left over if ya like
also if the borderfox is out there on his way to copenhagen or somthing i have some danish kroner if he wants it :D

No worries but lets not jinx it
What kind of exchange rate you converting those Swedish Kroners? Sure might be worth keeping those Danish Kroners for the semi final in Odense ;)

Would it be possible to hire a coach instead of two or three or six cars from either brussells or paris airports

Don't worry about it, put it towards getting the drums home.
But if that's the case, the diesel for the weekend should cost closer to 50euro than 90euro.

had a peep and they don;t really work out any cheaper from what I can remember, and the choice in Charleroi isn't great, can't even remember seeing any there.
btw,is beauvais/paris via ryanair an option?
it is but the flights are twice the price, so you can pay an extra €80 or pay the cost of petrol (in a car you're hiring anyway) for a three hour spin split five ways. After Nijmegen, as cheap as posible is the only way most of us will be able to do another trip :o

I think i found one that last time but would have been €170 as opposed to €93 for the focus & would ahve to go into Charleroi to collect but would be able to drop back to the airport on Monday.
btw drums didn't cost anything extra from ryanair.

did you give the drums a lash on the plane or were they in the hold :)

I don't think any of us were in a fit state to listen to drum beats on the plane home. The screaming baby was bad enough.
I thought I was going to fall into a trance looking at the bright yellow plastic seats and overhead baggage compartments :D
Ryanair probably fly more hen/stag/football parties than any other airline in Europe and they insisit on having a tripping yellow and navy interior but no sick bags. What's that all about!?!
