Thoughts? There's been a fair few great trips, even just in foot.ie's time (2001). San Marino is the game I'm most glad I was at; the Faroe Islands walks away with the best trip I think. Stuttgart or Bari probably comes in after that, even though they were only fly-by visits for me. The atmosphere at both was superb.
Any other favourites? Could maybe do a poll or do a "play-off" series like with the draft if there were enough different nominations. Be fun to relive the memories from down the years!

in rough order...
1. brussels 97. one of my first away trips (with exception of Italia 90 and anfield 95). Despite the result the atmosphere around the city from the day before the match was brilliant.
2. amsterdam 2000. for the match atmosphere and 2 goals to cheer alone. brilliant trip.
3. cameroon (japan) 02. great 2nd half atmosphere and performance. Welsh pub (the black pig) in the town centre was rocking that night. great start to a 3 week wc 2002 trip.

Denmark '92 was an awesome trip as a one-off game, both on and off the field.
The poor local females didn't realise what had hit them!
;)
Even though it near bankrupted us all at the time.
But Japan, as a long-haul jaunt, for sheer cultural differences and such welcoming locals was superb...

Iran in 2001 did it for me, maybe because I did it under my own steam and it was very nervewracking, though I enjoyed it and am glad to have seen a game with such an atmosphere.
Before that it would have been Gelsenkirchen in 1988, it was the 2nd time that year I'd been in the city and stadium, it was a bit of a skite as I was kind of caught up with the Inter Cert, but the sheer joy before, during and after the match I've never seen since.
The first away trip (if it can be called that) was a birthday gift back in 1978/9, up in Belfast. My Aunt and Uncle lived in the North and we stayed with them overnight (we drove up) and my cousin, Dad and I went to the match. I remember Ireland lost and my Dad told us "don't mess or say anything."

For sheer rollercoaster of emotions for me anyway the France away playoff game, I didnt like the atmopshere or build up before though to be honest, too many messy fellas on the trip.
Ive only been going since 2004, but Macedonia, or even France from that time might stick out there - for personal reasons :D

ya that was a good trip.
i had a great night on me own in this underground bar, with everyone drinking bottles of vodka and jack daniels and dancing on the tables and bar. I then proceeded to have a conversation through writing on paper with a couple of locals.
