After our game with Knockainey on Sat, I heard their manager on the phone asking to see could they get this game called off as they were missing a good few of their lads..!! He was right to try going on this score !!!

they asked for it to be moved to thursday alright but we would have been missing a few so we refused

newport asked for it to be played either today or tommorrow afternoon and it was played at 4.30 cause it was the only time they could get a ref. anyway lisnagry won 7-2

Was probably a fair result as the two teams where pretty evenly matched. The referee ruined what would have been an even better game. Seems to be a common trait with him. Very disrespectful towards the players and supporters also. I understand having to respect the ref but that works both ways.

We where asked to switch it to our place but said no because we had matches last weekend on it and if we had a load more on it this weekend it would be wrecked so we said at this late stage (Friday) that with it being down in the paper for Lisnagry that we would let the ref decide on Sunday. Got a phone call later to tell us it was off. Amazing that because a few times last year we tried to get matches off early but where told it was the refs decision not ours and we had to pay the refs half fee on the day even though we told them well in advance the pitch was un playable.

Lisnagry are like the majority of teams......Rugby lovers....delighted its off...World Cup Final all the way....but in all my years playin junior football in limerick Ive never had a game called off on a Friday !!!!!!!!!!

shocking but no surprise ,,, you should get your secetary to contact fixture secetary in league and ask for an explanation as to how a game can be called off on a friday ?? yeah a lot of clubs have been told the same thing that it was down to referee's decision on day of game ... but i suppose it helps to get games of if you have somebody in your club involved with league..

Last week we were told that he could not ask Ballylanders to travel in to us for a morning match cause it was too far, we should have been playing them in the morning(our home matches down for morning), interesting to see what time they will be travelling in to Lisnagry.

crazy rule by league home teams cannot call of games no matter how bad pitches are you have to wait for appointed referee to turn up and call of game !!! unless of course lisnagry you can get games called off on a friday 2 days before game . :confused:
