Hi lads.
I'm looking forward to the game tomorrow night. Will ye bring many fans
down ? I see Danny Furlong is suspended, who will replace him up front do ye think ?
Also, Ben Ryan playing with ye, is he the same player that was in our Under 20 team
a few years ago ?
Cheers in advance.

Dunno about numbers to be honest. Furlong was replaced by Robert Vickers last week so I presume Noel will stick with him for this one. Furlong has been playing out wide recently with Darragh Walshe alone up front. Ya I believe it is the same Ben Ryan, we have a few ex-Waterford players and ye have a good few ex-Youths, which should make it a good game. Hopefully we'll pick up a win too

Wexford's apparent greater desire brought them a welcome three points in the RSC tonight in a close encounter which had very few clear chances. On a pitch where the ball raised a good spray when rolling along the turf, Noel not surprisingly started the same eleven which had put in a reasonable shift against the Mons with Packie, Shane, Karl, Murt, Anto, Robert, Patsy, Craig, Deano and Darragh and Ben up front. First chance fell to the Blues after five, when Packie had to tip a header over the bar for a corner. However, the Blues were pretty lethargic for the rest of the half with Wexford looking fairly comfortable. After ten, Wexford got the goal which they needed when Conor Sinnott took down Anto just outside the box and got a yellow. With the wind, Ben then curled the resulting free-kick over the wall giving Burns no chance. After twenty, Patsy got a yellow for a tackle. With fifteen to go, Darragh was put through but took too many touches and his shot was blocked for a corner. With five to go, Paul Murphy replaced a limping WJ Kiely and Wexford went in at half-time reasonably deserving of their one-nil lead.

Wexford started the second half with two reasonable chances to stretch their lead. With the first, Darragh had an effort at back-heeling the ball into goal which was blocked. A few minutes later, Robert Vickers was sent clear down the right but his low cross could find neither Darragh or Deano in the box and the chance was lost. Waterford then dominated the match territorially with Wexford mostly pinned back in their own half. After fifteen, a Blues shot from twenty-five grazed the top of the crossbar and Conor Sinnott started delivering well into the box from several angles. However, by and large, the young Youths defence were getting their heads to the ball first.

After twenty, a double effort by a Blues forward was deflected onto the top of the net for a corner. Eoin Kinsella then came on for Robert wide right and Anto picked up a yellow for delaying a throw-in. Noel then got sent to the stands for protesting about the absence of frees for Wexford when Eoin was left on the ground clutching his leg after contact. A few minutes later, Eoin had recovered to put a volley wide when well-placed. With ten to go, a Waterford effort from twenty out went wide of the left-hand post when the player was allowed to run unopposed.

Waterford had two free-kicks in the last ten minutes from Ben Ryan's range, i.e. just outside the box, but could get neither on target to leave Wexford one-nil winners at the end. Best for Wexford were Shane and Anto who did well at full-back, Patsy who won plenty in midfield and Darragh who battled well up front. Two late subs were Muzzi and Mark Phelan for Darragh and Deano with Mark winning a brave header at the far-post in the last minute to keep the Blues out. Strange sight after the final whistle went of the stewards grappling with Noel in front of the Youths' fans to ensure that he stayed off the pitch.

What happened with Noel Forza, I was over at the other stand and didnt see to be honest.
I thought we played well, fought hard for everything and deserved the win. Pity we didn't take our chances at the start of the second but at least it didn't come back to haunt us for once.

only think I can think that happened was Noel attempted to get back out onto the pitch but was not allowed as had been sent to the stand so was told no and asked to leave then things got heated. Before the end of the game fourth official had words with Seanie for talking to Noel as did Waterford's head steward. What is the rule when a manager is sent to the stand are then allowed into the dressing room after the game?

I presume so, it might be different at half time though. Noel and Mick were getting very animated with some of the refereeing decisions. Some looked bad but maybe thats my bias, the tackle on Kinsella looked poor from where I was too. Is this Noels second sending off this season?

Yes I think it is Noel's second sending off so a hefty ban and fine will probably follow. The tackle on Kinsella was very similar to the tackle that Warren Baorders made and got sent off for in the RSC a few years ago and was very poor the trailing leg caught Eoin with studs up. The ref was very poor in general last night.
Maybe the funniest thing to be seen at a LOI match in a while was the entire Wexford Youths team in full kit Mick Wallace and Noel outside the RSC doing the post match chat :)
Also a not so funny discussion going on on the Waterford forum and if true is an utter disgrace

That's the same as what I saw Youths4Ever, thought the struggle between Noel and the steward(s) was a bit aggressive but to be honest I couldn't say who was to blame. Thought Noel to be really honest should've walked away when he knew he was being refused access back onto the pitch, but at the same time it was way over-board to actually put him outside the ground, he's not exactly a danger to anyone. Hope the FAI keep that in mind also in the event of any ban or fine.
All that aside, it was great win by the Youths. We weren't the most skillful side but we very clearly wanted it much more. Not only that, looks like we got Shane Dempsey back yesterday as bonus.
Class :D
