Bray Wanderers Wesley Charles is still dreaming about World Cup qualification for St. Vincent and Grenadines, for whom he starred in last weekend’s CONCACAF 4-1 win over Nicaragua, as he prepares for life back in the eircom First Division.

The Bray centre half will be back in action for Pat Devlin’s side against Limerick on Monday, just eight days after playing a key role in the World Cup qualifier in Kingston.

Charles, who has been capped 46 times for the Caribbean country, harbours hopes of a successful qualifying run, now that they have earned themselves a place in the group stages against Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados.

“It was a marvellous day with our national stadium full to its 6,000 capacity long before kick off,” recollects Charles.

“We now go into the next World Cup qualifying stage in September. We will be regarded as the rank outsiders – but that will not make us any less determined to prove ourselves at the highest level. There is no bigger honour than playing for your country at the World Cup.”
