Monaghan United finally managed a win after a run of terrible form thanks to two well taken goals against Cobh at Century Homes Park.

The win gives some hope to Monaghan who have endured a torrid season so far. It took two goals, late in each half, to finally give them their first win over what was a poor Cobh side.

Jimmy Fullam was the creator of the first goal as his cross was well controlled by Anthony Murphy who made no mistake in finishing to the Cobh net just before the interval.

The home side had to wait until four minutes from time for the second goal as Brendan Markey fired the second of the night, much to the delight, perhaps even surprise, of the home fans.
