not a bad wee draw! a tad wee bit disappointed it wasnot any of the talinn teams! has anyone being to Liechenstein before? This is very good draw for the club if the away leg is first as the town will have time to finish off their ground first!

Im due to quit on the 12th, games on 15th, have to confirm it today.... :)

Best draw for the club would've been Portadown or Glens - big crowd and TV money (and I could've gone). :(

Lovely place but best to go to Zurich - just over the border. It is expensive.
Be careful re booking flights - we will have a game moved as may have difficulties staging 2 home games the same night.

From The Lonely Planet Website:Costs in Liechtenstein are among the highest in Europe. If you're on a tight budget and you stay in hostels and self-cater, you could get by on around US$40 a day after buying a rail pass. If you stay in pensions, enjoy eating out and want to sample the nightlife count on spending at least twice as much.
All major travellers cheques and credit cards are accepted. Commission is not charged for changing cash or cheques, but shop around for the best rates (hotels usually have the worst rates). Tipping is rarely necessary as hotels, restaurants and bars are required by law to include a 15% service charge. There goes the cheap booze so. :(

Ryanair fly to Friedrichshafen from Stansted. Its only 54 miles from Vaduz according to routefinder. Costs 108.54 stg. return. Much cheaper than flying to Zurich.

and getting from Friedrichshafen to vaduz ???? train or bus maybe...
just heard that there will be a "tour" ( don't know if its team etc or not) leaving on the wen and back on the friday, as pauro said there is a meeting in the tangles web tomorrow and we'll stick up any details we get tomorrow afternoon, just booked the week off work, so let the fun begin !!!
Hello,
I live in Zurich, I think you would be better getting to here instead of Germany as Liechtenstein is well connected to Switzerland - bus/rail etc.
Compared to Dublin, prices in Zurich are about the same as long as you avoid tourist traps.
Swiss francs is the currency used in Liechtenstein.
Not an easy draw for you guys, wouldn't surprise me if they won. They gave Neuchatel Xamax a real run in the playoff.
Any (sensible) questions I will do my best to answer.

simple but important, question.....price of beer and what is night life like on a wen and thurs.

beer costs from 5 francs (3.2 Euro) to 9 francs (5.70 Euro) - depending where you are.
always ask for a big beer or they will just bring a 300ml one.
beer from supermarket starts at less than 1 euro.
night life on a Wednesday - Thursday....ha! Quiet enough, but you won't care as you'll be in a gang.
I'd be willing to meet up with some of you if, as it looks like, the trip to Estonia is too expensive for me.

oh and what is closing time, your welcome to meet up with a few of us, we'll know more details tomorrow
thanks for the offer, I'd be glad to meet up.
most bars are open until 12 or 1, but there are enough that stay open all night. (I'm basing this on my weekend drinking).
From what I remember of Vaduz, it's pretty much a ghost town, I'd try to get back to Zurich after the game if I were you. Been a few years since I was there, though can't imagine it's changed much.
2 main areas in Zurich are the Niederdorf - old town, very nice, some ok pubs and the Langstrasse district- lots of bars, strip bars, junkies, more life than in the Niederdorf if you get me!

sounds ok....beer is the main concern of course, some one will ask this so i'll get it out of the way now....is there as irish bar over there
there is no "real" Irish bar in Zurich.

are frequented by some ex-pats but are IMHO over-priced and horrible.
they are also the bars I mentioned where a pint is nearer 10 francs than 5 - it pays to shop around here!

well then , give us your 5 top bars for a bit of craic and some ok priced beer.....
you are better off walking along the 2 strips and finding one that you like the look of - there are all different kinds of bars here, you will see what I mean.
in the summer there are loads of places you can drink outside (esp. in Niederdorf), most of them will do for a laugh.

Much as i love going to see Bohs in europe, i'm not paying 700 to get from here to Tallin...and you do where Red & Black

Has anyone being to Liechenstein before?
Was there about ten years ago - lovely country if you're into scenery and castles and all that (I think it's a law that all postcards have to have a castle of some description on them!) Fairly expensive alright; was a bit young to be sampling the nightlife back then though! Only other thing I remember was before one of our qualifiers when George Hamilton was talking about Liechtenstein - there was unemployment of ten, and they don't want to work!
Actually did a piece on the Swiss Division Two for the programme last week - Vaduz came second with average crowds of 901, so it's not as if they're a big club or anything. Possible they're not even fully pro with crowds like that. They lost out in a play off to Xamax (who beat Shels 2-0 in the InterToto a few years ago), so it's very winnable. Check out www.rsssf.com to see how the Swiss Division Two works though! Back to back matches against the same team every weekend, with two bonus points for winning on aggregate, with peno shoot-outs if needs be! :D

Well it seems winnable alright, hopefully we can do the business and get another tie out of it..

They're semi-pro.
They're only in Europe by virtue of winning the Liechtenstein cup, which they pretty much have won every single year. The standard of Swiss football isn't good once you go outside the top division, you should be well capable of taking them.
Switzerland is class by the way, and Zurich is cool, as the man in the know said, if you shop around.

We'd want to improve on our display tonight against drog's if we want to stay in europe for another round. Eric should have scored at least once. At least we play better away from home, Vaduz watch out!! Can't wait for the trip. :D
