Lost a playoff to Belgrano Cordoba. A lot of rioting after the game.

Watched the game in the pub last night with a Boca fan I work with. He was almost speechless at the end. To be honest though, River should have been about 3-0 up at half time. They had a blatant penalty not given in the first half and missed another one in the second half. The rioting actually kicked off two minutes before full time.

I was half-watching a stream myself with Spanish commentary and wasn't sure what was going on as the players gathered in the centre of the pitch surrounded by security with the clock still ticking in the corner of the screen. Did the ref blow up early then as a result of the rioting?

Yeah, it was called off with a minute to play. A fan died in the stadium apparently - heart problems.

89 injured and 55 arrests.

Makes even the 'great' European derbies seem tame by comparison.

But this wasnt a derby AB (well not in the sense of River / Boca). RiverPlate fans just couldnt cope with the reality of relegation.
