Absolutely bucketing down here in Wexford at the moment and has been for several hours. Match seems to be still on.

Another home loss but at least a better performance from the Youths as they battled back in the second-half to make a game of it. With Patsy and Craig back from suspension, Youths started 4-5-1 with Packie, Shane, Murt, Karl, Deano, Ben, Craig, Patsy, Greg, Danny and Dara up front on his own. Limerick created a few chances early on with, after four, a midfielder stetching to connect with a cross but only succeeded in blocking it into Packie's hands. After fifteen, a Hynes cross was met beyond the far post but the Limerick forward drilled it over from about twelve out. After thirty minutes, Danny had Wexford's first shot on target from thirty yards out, but it was comfortably saved by Barry Ryan. Patsy then picked up a yellow for a tackle on Hynes in midfield. After thirty-five, Wexford conceded and a bad goal it was with a cross from the right just missed by three Limerick forwards and then returned into the box for Judge to take two touches at the far post and then head it in unchallenged. Limerick then picked up a yellow before scoring the second when a statuesque Wexford defence let Quinn have a free header for 2-0.

With Dara unable to win anything against Brian McCarthy at the back for Limerick, Wexford looked dead and buried at half-time at two-nil down. Limerick didn't look as urgent in the second and Wexford got the goal they needed after four minutes when a corner from Ben went directly into the net with Barry Ryan looking badly at fault. After fifteen, Tom Elmes came on for Dara up front and immediately looked more effective and had a header just over the bar two minutes later. After twenty, Limerick had a shout for a peno. when their forward appeared to be bundled over in the box but the ref. gave a kick-out to Wexford. With fifteen to go, the Limerick defence played the statues game and let Ben have a free header centrally from ten out which he knocked in off the post giving Ryan no chance. However, a minute later, LImerick regained the lead when the ball broke into the box and Craig, facing the wrong way and falling, only succeeded in drilling it past Packie for 3-2 to Limerick. LImerick then had a great chance to make it 4-2 when their left winger was put clear but he dinked it wide with Packie advancing.

Robert Vickers then came on as a sub and wuth a few minutes to go, Muzzi came on for Patsy. A Limerick player (didn't catch who it was) was then stretchered off which resulted in six minutes of injury time. Wexford applied some pressure during these minutes but didn't look like scoring for a three-two win for Limerick at full-time. On the way out, heard report that the Limerick player was ok and had been checked by a doctor so I hope that's right. Best for Youths were Ben who was man of the match, with Patsy doing well in midfield and Greg applying some composure in midfield. Judge looked the pick of the midfielders for Limerick and Hynes won most of the ball whch came to him during the match but Limerick probably won't be too happy at the way they dropped away in the second-half. About 150 at the match.

For the 3 goals our defending was shocking, Noel mentioned before the game the possibility of two more signings, hopefully one could be an experienced defender. Tom Elmes looked impressive and I'd imagine he'd start the next day.

HAve to agree that Elmes looked a lot more effective than Darragh but where we attacking more when Elmes came on. Darragh IMO does not have enough of a turn of pace and sits to deep for a lone front man. Last night's match was a bug improvement in performance from Shelbourne and Mervue games. I think in terms of the defence getting Anto back fit would be a big help from an experience view point although both Murt and Karl have looked more comfortable since then moved into the centre of defence I would worry about left back and Deano is more of a midfielder than a defender.

Just on the og was it not greg I know all the reports have Craig but then all copy each other and honestly thought it was greg who scored it.
