Under caretaker manager Leo Tierney, Sligo Rovers managed to halt the flow of goals at their end, but their increased defensive fortitude ensured meant they were unable to break down a Bray side that remains just three points off the top of the table.

Wanderers had a chance to close the gap on leaders UCD to just one after College and third-placed Finn Harps played out a 1-1 draw on Friday night.

However, they were unable to force the issue against Rovers, even after the home side were reduced to 10 men in the 78th minute with the dismissal of defender Gerry Carr.

Strikers Paul McTiernan and Stephen Mullen produced the best moments for a Sligo side that parted company with manager Don O’Riordan in midweek after two disappointing defeats, but both sides had to settle for a point in the end.
