ya got thought a lesson all right, none of our players bar Deamien played anywhere near their capability, Johnny had a good second half and savo done well, but they are the argubly the best junior side in the country, I've seen a good bit of Pike and Boro this season and Saints are def better than them. They are some bet at 7/1, we still have Munster junior and we'll give that a right go

bad form out of some of your lads to be out drinking the night before a big game its not really fair on the rest of the team what chance had ye with that crack going on

We knew cliff was going to the 21st he told us, ya johnny had a few that evening and was home early. He was still the second best player we had on the day. Many players were ye missing against Thurles due to drink??? how many players had ye Sunday before ye're game was called off? 9 was it?? and i remember the infamous trip ye had in Donegal where half ye're team went on the **** the night before the big match with some of ye're players only getting back to the hotel at 8 in the morning so dont try stir **** and look at ye're own house before youy start having a go at ours.

ha ha well i didnt condone it back then and i still dont condone it now, johnny had a few and went home early what planet are you on, wasnt trying to stir anything was just stating a fact to see what you thought off this carry on, we only played 2 big games this year and they were the 2 against ye and we had every available player 2 us on both days we were missing a couple against thurles alright and we had 11 players last sunday is there anything else you would like 2 know, that trip to donegal was a joke some players really let the club down and ive no problem saying that at least i wont come on here telling lies and making excuses for them when there in the wrong the lads i fell sorry for were the lads on the bench that didnt go out and had 2 watch these lads play ahead of them now in my book thats totally wrong but i suppose you might have some way of justifying that as well

Not discussing the game at the weekend in particular, but drinking the night before a big game isn't great preparation, have to show respect to the opposition and your team-mates

agree 100% with you and that was the point i was making no matter what team/players do it, anyway panda will there be any games on this week i know our pitch is not in great shape what about the match box:o
panda87
29/11/2011, 10:58 AM
matchbox is soggy :) I don't think they should be forcing games to go ahead if pitches aren't great, I'm sure they're well ahead of schedule so far, all the leagues are half way through..
Even brickfields, which is a notoriously hard field, looked fair soft on sunday

Lads would it be fair to say the gap between North and South Tipp leagues is bigger than its ever been,Saints comfortable beating Nenagh Town in Nenagh 3-0 and missing a penalty to boot, Clonmel Town beating Thurles Town 6-0, and these are the current top 2 in North Tipp, is it down to coaches or schoolboy structure?

nenagh town are the top team up hear at the moment and the way saints disposed of them would suggest the gap is wider than ever, i think the north tipp schoolboys set up is stronger than ever but the way the junior leagues is run is a real point of issue, saying that 3 of the best players in our league left last year to play in different leagues maybe this could be the start of a trend, its a hard 1 to put your finger on from our point of view we lost 10 players from last year an only brought in 1/2 and the rest are b-team lads that made the step so that would explain our slump in form

I would say the gap between st micheals and north tipp is getting bigger to be honest .Eg : Clonmel Celtic only beat us ( Cloughjordan ) 2. 1 and then they go on to beat clonmel town 5.1 I think the other teams apart from Micheals are fairly even overall.. Maybe the other south tipp team may be slightly stronger but not much.. Plus as far as i am aware st micheal's seem to take the best talent from south tipp so that would be a massive advantage for them.. The same cant really be said for Nenagh town. The schoolboy structure is getting way better in north tipp and it will show in years to come no doubt..

Very honest answer Celticlads, well Clonmel Town are TSDL champions 7 of the last 8 years and have been in 3 fai semi finals in last 5 years so would be as good as Saints however this season Saints are certianly top dogs, Clonmel Celtic and Peake Villa will also compete strongly in this years FAI so the strength in depth of South Tipp is very strong, Nenagh Town are really only side who can really compete in Munster or Fai

While I agree with alot you said it should be noted that saints have a thriving schoolboy club and try to develop their own through the ranks like everyother club in south tipp take last Sunday we had 9/16 players who came through our youth / schoolboy section which I think is a very health balance but it's not easy to get that right

29/11/2011, 9:37 PM
while its hard on smaller clubs if you want to compete for major trophies you need to draw a few lads from outside your own area to do this, bringing up through your own schoolboys structure is ideal but its not always possible, we will never compete at the top level on a consistant basis simply because we dont have the facilities to attract players from outside areas, we cant even hold on to our young lads these days because of it, going back a couple of years we reach the out of area in the MJC most years and were a test for any team but that was because we were lucky enough to have youths coming through every year into the junior side, sadly these times have run out on us and we must build again but the good days will return 1 day and celtic will be a force to be reckon with untill then we will struggle on like we always do

Well Johnny phoned the management at 10:45 and said he was at home, they can only take the players word for it neither were out to verify. How many times did ye turn a blind eye to gonzo aidan and more doing it, hypocrites! and lets be honest johnny is the best player in the league and not going to be left our against st.michaels when he turned up said he wasn't sick and didn't look it and his performance showed that, and stop with the bull about feeling sorry for the lads on the bench, what u at? are u tring to stir it hoping to get players off us cause ye are struggling to field a team???
Pride of Nenagh

No i dont think it is. the gap between saints and everyone else is big. We bet Clonmel celtic twice in last 2 seasons including 5-2 this season, knocked peake villa out of fai away from home last year and clonmel town haven't beaten us in the last 3 meetings, we knocked them out of Munster junior a few seasons ago in the complex. Saints are a super side the best junior team i've ever seen

Ya I think thats a fair assessment, overall saints are way ahead of anyone in north or south tipp, but the last two years the john delaney cup has shown nenagh are probably second best, and if not second best nenagh are definitely on a par with any of the other of the south tipp teams. the rest of the north tipp league is very poor unfortunately, and it can't be good preparation for nenagh to play out in our field the weekend before playing saint michaels

@ pride of nenagh i knew you would try to justify it ha ha, can you not just admit that it was wrong just like i have when it happens at our club the point is that its just wrong no matter who does it and for any management to allow it to happen is equally wrong the sooner you realise this and stop trying to justify it the better you'll be, as far as trying to stir it to get players of ye is so sad and way off the mark, i know for a fact that none of the lads that left us for ye would be welcomed back at the moment and between injuries, suspenions and players signing we should have a squad of 14/15 in the next few weeks so we'll pass on trying to take any of yere players thanks for the idea anyway:D

They had some games set for 11 15 there recently (only for one weekend) I was half thinking that maybe that was to try and stop lads from going out drinking.
I wonder if games were on at 10am on a sunday would that be of benefit to cutting out the drinking culture. It probably wouldnt stop lads going out drinking but it might stop them turning up for matches altogether.

fair point, i know in limerick games kick off at 10:30 weather that has anything to do with drinking im not sure but it could be an option and if it did stop lads turning up because of drink that might be a good thing in the long run, its just so frustrating for the majority of players to have to suffer because of a small few lads cant hold off drinking for 1 night
and before anyone gets on their high horse im on about in general not just last week

I dont condone it, never have and never will but your making out that johnny turned up in a bad way and u haven't a clue, he was fit to play if he wasn't then he wouldn't of, like when he was left out against Clonmel and Wilderness, dont like the way your coming on to an open blog talking about our club, management and players, dont see us talking about suff in ye're club, like ........ actualy no thats not the way we do things we're bigger and better than that

you openly talked about stuff that went on in our club just read back through your own posts and you will see it, if you read through my posts you will see i was talking about any management, any player and any club, im talking about right and wrong and your still defending lads who are clearly wrong and if you would be so kind as to go back and check who actually brought these players names into this debate id love to know was it me or you now go off and have a think for yourself and if you want to reply to my comment at least have the COP ON to remember what you have said in previous post, you really are burning the candle at both ends ha ha

Pity to see the bickering going on here between what I think is from clubs in Nenagh. I don't think personal names should be mentioned and the debate should be taken to pm. I like reading about North Tipp soccer and generally the contributions are very interesting. Season of goodwill lads etc ...........

Sallypark 3-3 Thurles town
Very tough game in woeful conditions, we started the game well in front, had chances and disallowed goals and could have had the game under control by halftime but instead it was 2-2 and we were down to ten men going into the break, they got ahead then in the second half but we battled on and got the equaliser with five minutes to go and should have had a penalty after that but great result overall given the circumstances..

nenagh town 1-0 sallypark
we were very solid for the most of the game and had a couple of great chances on the break in the second half, but unfortunately we slipped up with a few minutes to go and archie mitchell finished very well into the top corner.. nenagh must have had over 70% possession in the game but they weren't very incisive. I thought we deserved the draw overall but it wasn't to be! playing moneygall in a six pointer this weekend..
any word from the rearcross v blackcastle game, finished 4-4, surely a cracker?
