Made his first start for Watford today at the age of 17. Played 60 mins.
Anyone know much about him?

I have to laugh, the tags for the first video are: "Alonso like wonder goal. The next Gerrard. England's future star. Glenn Hoddle would be proud of this one."

The little info that is available includes a stort that he was wanted by the 'big teams' but was happy to stay at Watford. Hopefully he has his head screwed on Like James McCarthy.

Watford has one of the best academies in the England - they had a special on it on either Football Focus or Sky Sports a while back. They've also not got a lot of money so they have to play youngsters, and have a great manager in Malky Mackay.

I watched him play V Spurs on Friday night. I was impressed with his performance. He played out on the left wing. He kept things simple and was industrious on the ball. He also tracked Walker's forward runs pretty well. He was very unlucky not to score in the second half when Cudicini got saved his shot onto the post. He looks like a good prospect. Hopefully, this performance will persuade his manager to give him an extended run out in the first team

That's disappointing. BBC have corrected it Skysports still haven't corrected it. Garner does look like Murray in build and playing style going from what I saw last Friday night. Skysports have Murray as "key player" at 60 mins but they could well mean Garner!

OK, now there is a first senior goal for Murray, deflected free kick apparently (I guess if it is given an own goal its not a first senior goal though)
Could be the next (right-footed) Andy Reid, not very mobile player on the left sided midfielder capable of providing great deliveries from dead balls. Don't know if he plays guitar.

Another for Murray to put Watford 2-0 up at Bristol City. That's 4 in 6 games if I'm counting correctly.

I think it is. I actually find this form worrying! What are the chances he'll be coaxed into the England set-up, a la Michael Keane?

Was interested as to how he qualifies for Ireland.
This states that all his family is Irish and has always played his underage football with Ireland (Daily Mail...I know, I know):

Also saw him retweet a tweet by Glen Rovers GAA club in Watford.

It has to be said - he's worth a mint!!
Stats over last 13 games.
with Murry 6-3-0
without 0-0-4
Impressive!!
with 27P 7W-9W-11L avg points 1.11
without 9P 6W-3D-0L avg points 2.33
So he is worth over a point a game which would have qualified us automatically, and possible win European Championships!!

Just scored for Watford v Brighton :
Sean Murray finds the net with a goal direct from the free kick from long range to the top left corner of the goal. Brighton 0-1 Watford.
direct from a long range free kick! Nice one! Hopefully this kid gets a look in the autumn...

Another one direct from a free kick away to Peterborough yesterday.
Saw the goal on BBC last night, nice finish. Certainly on the to watch list - seems to be at a good club and probably the best place for him for next couple of years.

Th transfer rumour mill has started with Murray being linked to Everton and Fulham. Dyche has admitted that despite Murray sigining a 3 year deal, financial constraints may force him to sell.
Everton would be my personal pick if he did go, but spending another season at Watford would be preferable in terms of his development IMO.

Started in the side, features from the bench more lately and has scored off the bench also, but not starting games at present. The brighter side is despite a takeover, new manager and a huge amount of loan players from Italy, he is still in and around the first team at a club presently in a play off spot, with time yet to improve.

I have got the impression over the past few months from reading Watford forums, that he likes the good life a bit too much and has a bit of an attitude. His career has certainly stalled this season and he has only had 6 starts. Really disappointing. Needs a big second half of the season

I can't find any existing thread on Murray but he seems to have started the season very well. He failed to make much of an impact last season after exploding onto the scene a couple of years ago. By all accounts he was excellent yesterday in a Watford team many expect to achieve automatic promotion. He could be one to watch. Hopefully he doesn't go the same way as John Joe O'Toole.

Yeah, I noticed he's been featuring again and scored yesterday. He was nowhere to be seen last year. Always worrying when that happens as you never know what's going on, but at a club like Watford anything could be going on.

Noel King on Murray: http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/king-praises-watford-star-murray-as-he-hints-senior-call-on-cards-29745403.html
NOEL KING has backed Watford's Sean Murray to push on and represent Ireland at senior level after an enlightening spell as caretaker in the top job opened his eyes to what is necessary.
...
"He's been terrific," said King, "He was terrific with the U-19s, he was great for us at the start and then he had a little dip in his club form, which happens when you're so young. He's looking like a real top prospect. I wouldn't like to put that pressure (likelihood of senior cap) on him but I think so, yeah.
"I think it's a good thing playing with an Italian manager (Gianfranco Zola). European style football, playing a different system than a normal 4-4-2, it's a good learning curve for himself and (clubmate) Connor Smith."
Another goal for Seanie against table toppers Leicester. Currently 1-2.
Goal!
Goal! Leicester City 0, Watford 2. Sean Murray (Watford) right footed shot from outside the box to the bottom left corner. Assisted by Ikechi Anya.

"It could also be argued that Murray could merit a place on the panel ahead of the likes of Connor Sammon or Stephen Quinn, who have never really shown their best in the Irish jersey."
OK... whatever about Sammon - and he's got a couple of assists in about 3 starts - Quinn has barely featured for Ireland, and when he has, he has looked pretty sharp.

Why would he leave Watford? They can possibly succeed in getting automatic promotion and if he is good enough play regular football. In regards to the so called imports, how is Watford different from the likes of Man City, Arsenal or Chelsea who have token amounts of British players? Granted Watford's are often on plan, but essentially it is the same scenario.

He is probably better off at a Championship team that is the equivalent of West Brom, Hull or Stoke in the Premier League. A team that has a solid base of British & Irish players and an experienced British manager.
He had a hard enough time even making the bench at Watford when he was fit. It's going to get even harder if they are in the Premier League and continue to sign, stronger, continental imports.
They have already managed to bring in names like Motta, Cassetti & Gomes. They have the budget and ethos to attract an even stronger calibre of player with promotion.

Not true at all - 2013/2014 he played almost 40 games and scored 6 or 7 goals, those aren't the stats of someone who had a hard time making the bench when fit. He's had a tough time of it recently but is more than good enough to play in that team.

I think Watford have been fair with Hoban and Murray in their development thus far, both have spent time out but were given chances on their return. Also, they do import a lot of their experienced players but it seems to be balanced with developing and selling on their talent, Ashley Young, Ardian Mariappa, Marvin Sordell are all Premiershp players presently who recently came through there, and pre injury Britt Assombalonga looked the part at Peterborough (where Watford were so reluctant to sell him at that stage, they had first option on buying him back) and recently hitting lots of goals in a poor Forest side.
If they are taking this view on our lads also, than its not a bad place for them to be at this stage.

I see Watford have signed Jose Manuel Jurado.
Even harder to see Murray getting a look in there now.

I'll let Spudulika give his opinion on Jurado, but in my opinion he's a lightweight who won't cut it in the PL, and will be back in Spain in January on loan.

Had a rather inauspicious start to his Swindon career, giving away a penalty within a couple of minutes of coming on as a sub in one of his first games, but got his first goal tonight to equalise in a 3-1 loss to Northampton Town, for whom John-Joe O'Toole scored. The lad had a lot of promise early in his career before seeming to get a bit lost among all of Watford's loan signings. Hopefully he has the ability and dedication to kick-start his career again and move up at least one division within the next year or two.

It appears he couldn't agree a deal in League Two with Colchester, as opposed to being released.
On another once hotly-tipped, London-born centre midfielder, Conor Henderson's wiki states he has left Pirin in Bulgaria. Can't find news on it anywhere.
