Goal four minutes from time by Danny secured the three points for Wexford in Ballybofey tonight in edgy encounter in which, from a long way out, it looked like whoever could manage to score would collect the points. With Anto not yet back and Kevin and Wolfie missing, Youths started Packie, Gareth, Karl, Murt, Deano, Shane, Patsy, Craig, Ben and Danny and Grinny up front. Wexford started the brighter and Gareth latched onto a freekick after two which went about two yards wide. After five, Patsy got a yellow for his first tackle and two minutes later a Harps defender also got a harsh yellow when adjudged to have blocked a cross with his hand. After fifteen, Grinny hit the outside of the post when he was through after a mistake in the Harps defence. Match entered lull at that point and Harps got their first effort after about 35 minuts when a shot by McHugh was well-blocked by a Youths defender for a corner.

Nil-nil at half-time with Packie having had little to do other than catch a few routine crosses while Wexford looked at least a little constructive when Grinny was able to get on the ball and he picked up a few fouls. Second-half was even enough affair with Ben having a shot pushed wide for a corner after about two minutes and then Grinny lobbe wide when found by Shane. Packie then got a quick hand up to parry a shot by a Harps forward. After 15, McHugh volleyed wide when clear wide right and then Brolly volleyed over when ball dropped to him wide left after a corner. With 18 to go, best chance of the match fell to Grinny when he was put through by a neat pass but the Harps keeper saved an attempted nutmeg with his legs. Game seemed destined for a draw at that point but, with four to go, Ben was allowed turn on receiving a throw deep in the Harps haff and he picked out Danny on his own in the box who volleyed it left-footed about fourteen yards out to the keeper's low right side to give him no chance for one-nil.

Packie then grabbed onto a Harps shot which was goalbound in injury time while with virtually the last kick, Danny had another volley which went just wide of the Harps upright. Only sub for Wexford was Dara for Grinny deep in injury time while Harps also improved when their no. 23 sub came on. Best for Wexford was the youthful defence of Gareth, Murt, Karl and Deano which kept the Harps forwards very quiet with Murt doing particularly well on McHugh and Gareth on Brolly. One-nil to Wexford at full-time with Greg and Muzzi being the unused subs.

What way did the defence line out Forza? Did Murt play in the center?

Hi Cornflakes,
Yes, Murt and Karl played in the middle of the back four with Deano on the left and Gareth on the right. Generally think Murt looks more comfortable there than at fullback.

Ya to be honest he looked awkard playing full back and gave the play away lot from there. He looks a strong lad too which suits a center back in this division.
Anyway great win and we should be picking up maximum points against Salthill next week and hopefully build a bit of momentum
