Bray Wanderers 3-0 Cobh Ramblers
Bray Wanderers kept up the pressure on leaders UCD with a cosy victory over an understrength Cobh Ramblers side at the Carlisle Grounds on Friday night.

Bray had fallen three points behind the Students by losing to them a week ago, but their two defeats at the hands of Pete Mahon’s side remain their only reverses so far this season.

Colm Tresson, fill in at the back in the absence of several first-choice defenders, netted direct from a free kick after nine minutes, and goals from Eamon Zayed midway through the second half and Ciaran Ryan just before the end sealed a comfortable win against Cobh, who were without captain Steve Yelverton and main striker Kieran O’Reilly due to the former’s wedding, for which O’Reilly was best man.

Bray Wanderers: O’Connor, Gifford, Long, Tresson, O’Reilly, McGuinness (Farrell, 33 (Manley, 77)), Fox, Lawless, Ryan, Grogan (Flood, 84), Zayed.

Cobh Ramblers: Cuthbert, O’Donovan, Meade, Andrews, Wolfe, Moore, Conlon (O’Shea, 70), Cummins, White (Lougheed, 60), Brosnan, Warren.

Referee: P. Tuite (Dublin).

Anyone at the game??

I didnt see any Rams fans at the game. An entertaining enough match, Bray never really got out of 3rd gear. 3 lovely goals with Grogan setting up the 1st two and generally running the Cobh defence ragged all night. Zayed was quite but still managed to score. McGuinness was running the show until he was butchered 4 times in the space of 5 minutes and had to be taken off, Was talking to one of the backroom staff and they thought it was his ligiments in his knee  Not even a yellow card shown for any of the tackles on him !

The ref had a poor game, letting those tackles go without punishment and also only a yellow card for O'Connor in the Bray nets when he brought Brosnan (i think ?) down 10 yeard outside the box, but in saying that he was'nt the last man so maybe he was right ?

Cobh didnt offer anything up front and never threatened Bray's net. No. 11 looked like a handy enough player though, seemed to be the only one willing to work for the ball.

We did not play bad against bray they got the breaks and we didnt.

The first goal was from a set piece that the keeper should have dealt with the second goal was a scramble in the box and the third goal was a free kick that the keeper should have saved.

Terry white played well on the left wing and put in some good balls.

John Andrews was injured in the 15th minute and played the full match but should have came off but he is a determind character.

Brosnan tried hard had a few half chances Dave Warren is struggking with an ongoing injury.

It is easy to slag Dave Hil off from the comfort of your arm chairs but the scoreline does not reflect how all the lads gave 100% on the night we just could not put the ball in the back of the net.

The Bray keeper should have been sent ff but wasnt.

We got the breaks but were also the much better side and were never really in trouble, apart from when O'Connor made a very silly challange outside his box ! he was very very lucky to stay on, might have been the 2 defenders along side him, but personnaly i thought he should of walked. How was Bray's 2nd goal a scramble ? Grogan picked the ball up in his just inside his own half, ran about 15 yards then slide the ball through to zayed to turned inside the defender and fired home, hardly a scramble !

Anyway, ya have one last chance against Bray this season ! see ya next month
