I remember posting a few years ago about this lad when he was with Arsenal, and meeting a taxi drive who knew matthew well and said he wouldn't play for Ireland. Granted he was at Arsenal then.

He has been one of QPRs best performers this season, and seems a fairly level headed fella with a keen eye for business. What are the chances of him being approached and/or him accepting, I think we could do with as many CBs as we can.

The taxi drive(r) has already answered your question.

Has the taxi driver said otherwise since?

he was called into an U19 squad a few years ago, and then a few months later played for England's U19s

Ya I remember but thats over 4 or 5 years now tets, no movement on England. No harm in seeing if he is interested. Perhaps when kelly was there and tardelli they were keeping an eye on him.

Exactly, we need as many Premiership level players as we can. Anyone that can improve us and add something should be approached.

I think the big issue, I'm sure you'll all heartily agree, is whether this lad is referred to as "Matthew" or not??

"Matt" we could just about live with and he could do himself the world of good by adopting a universally accepted cool nick name, like Wolfie, or Cool Dog for instance???

That rules out Matthew "Matt" Connolly then ..... as he has never played as Premiership level.

He will be playing there next year which is far better than having someone playing for Preston or Ipswich.

QPR will be playing in the Premiership next season. It remains to be seen if Connolly will be there with them. As it is he has never played in the Premiership and he is playing at the same level of football as those in Preston and Ipswich.

He has been an integral part of the QPR team this season, getting very good reviews, qpr having a serious amount of clean sheets too. I'd be very surprised if he is not still with them next season. They haven't spent money foolishly yet, if thats what you are getting at. Spent very little actually I think their most expensive signing was 3.5 million.

aren't QPR's owners richer than Croesus?

Would be shocked if QPR did let him go, has been one of the most consistent players over the last few years especially this year.
Can play either right back on centre back, chairman has come out and said he will splash the cash come the summer but pretty sure Connolly will be safe.
